Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in Euphoria, White Lotus, and Anyone But You, made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. The episode featured the return of the Please Don't Destroy group, a hilarious pre-taped segment about Bowen Yang's sexuality, and guest appearances by Glen Powell and Gina Gershon.
Join Ben Konowitz, Nate Loucks, and Brad Oman from Slashfilm.com as they recap and review each sketch, sharing their opinions on what worked and what didn't. This will include their choice for Sketch of the Night and Most Valuable Performer. Sit back, take a deep breath, and prepare for the Ten to One.

[00:00:00] The Ten to One Podcast, with your host, Brad Olman featuring Ben Connoble, and Nate
[00:00:15] Well, and he was the podcast.
[00:00:19] That was pretty good.
[00:00:22] It was better than I can do.
[00:00:25] We all know this now that it was you and I are not gifted.
[00:00:28] We are not that bad.
[00:00:29] Who's I can?
[00:00:30] Better than I can do.
[00:00:32] Yeah.
[00:00:33] This is fun already for the listener.
[00:00:35] Who's I can?
[00:00:36] I'm I can to give a little bit of a break.
[00:00:40] I'm I can.
[00:00:41] Clay I can.
[00:00:42] Alright we did.
[00:00:43] I was in person.
[00:00:44] No, no, no, no, no.
[00:00:45] If I was just jerking on the bus.
[00:00:49] By the way, how do you know a Clay Quay song?
[00:00:53] He doesn't that's not like, we owe it.
[00:00:56] Do you think the lyrics are I'm jerking on a bus?
[00:01:01] Clay I can.
[00:01:02] That was the lyrics.
[00:01:03] But I'm pretty sure that is a Clay Quay song that are your parody.
[00:01:05] Well sure.
[00:01:06] Which means you know a Clay song enough to parody it.
[00:01:09] That is literally his famous song from after he was on the bus.
[00:01:13] Yeah.
[00:01:14] If I was invisible parentheses jerking on the bus.
[00:01:16] If I was invisible, Greyhound Read Mix.
[00:01:20] Hey guys, it's a it's a we need to clear our act because this is not going to go.
[00:01:27] We just had done recording our other podcast and here's how it goes.
[00:01:31] Normally we record this one first because we're serious and then we get to be a little
[00:01:34] silly.
[00:01:35] So we reversed it for some reason this time and now I feeling back.
[00:01:39] Flip it in reverse.
[00:01:40] Yes, we're a little weird.
[00:01:41] So you're a fan.
[00:01:42] Yeah, I'm welcome to a weird episode of the 10 to 1 podcast.
[00:01:47] The podcast where we recap and review new episodes of Saturday Night Live.
[00:01:52] And one you know it there was new episode this past weekend with Sydney Sweeney, the star
[00:01:57] of euphoria and handmade tale and not madam web anyone but you and she's hosting Saturday
[00:02:04] Night Live for the first time and she did it.
[00:02:09] She did.
[00:02:10] No, she did do it.
[00:02:12] This was I'll just say just to the top of the show, I was pleasantly surprised by this one
[00:02:17] actually for the most part.
[00:02:18] And that's where all that's where all the you will get into the nitty gritty of the episode
[00:02:22] here momentarily.
[00:02:24] All right, momentarily before we get into this episode though, I wanted to point out a
[00:02:28] strange bit of trivia about Saturday Night Live that I learned over the weekend because
[00:02:33] I was watching every now and then I'll throw on the peacock Saturday Night Live channel.
[00:02:38] Right now there's two separate ones.
[00:02:40] There's one that plays full episode of SNL at least in their truncated form because sometimes
[00:02:43] they don't have all the sketches.
[00:02:45] And there's another one that just plays random collections of different sketches.
[00:02:49] Sometimes there's a theme to them, sometimes it's just a random collection.
[00:02:52] And I happen to see a clip featuring Tracy Morgan as Brian Fellows.
[00:02:58] No, not Brian Fellows Safari Planet which is the sketch that made that character famous
[00:03:03] where he plays this kind of dim-witted zoologist that has animal experts on his show and
[00:03:09] he knows jack shit about animals and says the dumbest things.
[00:03:14] But no, this was an early iteration of Brian Fellows who was a sassy gay sports journalist
[00:03:20] who appeared at the weekend update desk with Colin Quinn and was basically kind of like
[00:03:26] the gossip version of a sports journalist talking about behind-the-scenes stuff of people
[00:03:30] having an affair and saying, he did it with the same kind of voice though.
[00:03:34] So that was the original Brian Fellows before it turned into Brian Fellows Safari Planet.
[00:03:39] I have no idea.
[00:03:40] I don't know any.
[00:03:41] Yeah, fun little trivia there.
[00:03:43] Most people don't know that Jason Cedicus's Ted Lasso is not just an original character
[00:03:48] for that show but was actually an NPC sports character that they made up in 2013.
[00:03:54] Yeah, so his writing partner I think wasn't a sound writer wouldn't he?
[00:03:59] These things happen.
[00:04:00] They do.
[00:04:01] And they blossom.
[00:04:02] They blossom just like this 90s show.
[00:04:04] With a hat.
[00:04:05] What was that type of griffin?
[00:04:12] So Sydney Swini hosted the episode but how did the episode begin Nate?
[00:04:16] Alright, Dan Abash played by Heidi Gardner, interview's governor Gavin Newsom, White House
[00:04:21] press secretary, Karin Jean Pierre, secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas,
[00:04:28] and Dremont Green played by Michael Longfellow, Ego Votum, Marcel Hernandez, and Devon Walker
[00:04:32] to address concerns about President Biden's age.
[00:04:36] No, have they done this before though?
[00:04:39] I don't think they had any jokes about Biden's age yet.
[00:04:41] No, not that but like-
[00:04:42] This was bad.
[00:04:43] But behind closed doors thing, I thought that the SNL specifically has done this before
[00:04:47] they're like, you know, behind closed doors he's really good.
[00:04:50] I remember that being a thing and I don't know if it was weekend update or whatever but
[00:04:55] they've done this joke before.
[00:04:58] This was just a elongated non-escalation version of that.
[00:05:03] I disagree with the escalation part because I do think there was escalation.
[00:05:06] Sorry, not as much as I would have liked.
[00:05:08] Yes, I agree with that.
[00:05:09] I did want them to get more.
[00:05:10] There was a little though.
[00:05:11] I will give you a little.
[00:05:12] Yeah, I did want them to get more outlandage for they were going to do something like this.
[00:05:16] And then of course bringing Mikey Day is Biden at the end just like-
[00:05:19] That was whatever.
[00:05:20] But so I think my problem is with the escalation, their version of escalation is bringing
[00:05:26] in Dremont Green.
[00:05:28] Not necessarily making the things that Biden is doing more outlandish.
[00:05:33] And I wish they would have done some poor Photoshop of him climbing Mount Everest or like
[00:05:39] Rescuative Kitchen.
[00:05:41] Wow, a chicken rescuing a kitten from a tree or something that is seriously just badly
[00:05:47] photoshopped that they could have just pulled on to say like, come on, this is ridiculous.
[00:05:52] But I don't know it just didn't work.
[00:05:55] I mean, I do think that what the NBA players name me in Dremont Green, what he did was
[00:06:02] ridiculous and it was-
[00:06:03] It was.
[00:06:04] And I did like the young blood call back with-
[00:06:05] That was good too.
[00:06:06] There were a few good points here but-
[00:06:09] Yeah, I still wanted to get more absurd as well.
[00:06:11] Of course.
[00:06:13] So as far as the-
[00:06:14] We always talk about this, the political co-opens, not our favorite.
[00:06:19] In the pantheon of them, Nate, where does this rank?
[00:06:23] Is this near the bottom, near the top or just-
[00:06:25] That's really hard because you're talking about what is the worst of the worst and there's
[00:06:30] some really bad ones.
[00:06:31] I'm late.
[00:06:32] As of late.
[00:06:33] Like this season, this season we've not given a lot of credit to the writers and-
[00:06:37] I don't think it's the worst one.
[00:06:39] No, not-
[00:06:40] I mean, I don't think it's good though.
[00:06:42] I mean, it's just-
[00:06:43] I don't know.
[00:06:45] Remind me, was there a good cold open that we've seen in the last few years?
[00:06:48] We gave compliments to the one that did like the Donald Trump freeze frame wherever it
[00:06:53] was behind his frozen.
[00:06:54] Oh yeah.
[00:06:55] We did yet.
[00:06:56] Then there was another one that was basically almost like a draft maybe or something
[00:06:59] like that that was-
[00:07:00] A little bit more-
[00:07:01] So anything's a little bit more meta.
[00:07:02] Obviously we're giving a little bit more credence to.
[00:07:05] But the idea that you can just pair it what's really happening sucks.
[00:07:08] Yeah, exactly.
[00:07:09] So we could move over this.
[00:07:11] We-
[00:07:12] I just-
[00:07:13] The-
[00:07:14] I don't know.
[00:07:15] I just don't want to beat a dead horse every episode where like we go through this and
[00:07:18] again the blue go-
[00:07:19] Well, I keep dealing with it.
[00:07:21] I know but like we could-
[00:07:22] Hey, listener, it was bad.
[00:07:25] Move on.
[00:07:26] Alright, moving on.
[00:07:27] Sydney, sweetie, monologue.
[00:07:28] It wasn't all bad.
[00:07:29] It wasn't all bad.
[00:07:30] Okay, fine.
[00:07:31] There were a couple of parts on.
[00:07:33] It was the worst.
[00:07:34] It wasn't the worst.
[00:07:35] Hosting for the first time actress Sydney Sweeney talks about a life outside of acting
[00:07:38] and address-
[00:07:39] addresses internet rumors.
[00:07:41] The cameo features Sydney's co-star from anyone but you Glenn Powell.
[00:07:45] God, he's handsome.
[00:07:46] He's-
[00:07:47] Well, they're both not ugly people.
[00:07:49] She's great.
[00:07:50] He's so handsome.
[00:07:51] I-
[00:07:52] This was short.
[00:07:53] Um, but it was-
[00:07:56] She felt comfortable.
[00:07:57] The only time when she wasn't comfortable I think-
[00:07:59] I think it's because the audience reaction was like strangely like grounded about it
[00:08:03] was when she mentioned the rumor of having to fare like it's almost like-
[00:08:07] Oh, what you gonna talk about it?
[00:08:08] She literally says it.
[00:08:10] There's an audible like-
[00:08:12] Back you have.
[00:08:13] Back you in the room.
[00:08:14] And it was like-
[00:08:15] No, she's saying that because it's so audacious.
[00:08:17] Yeah.
[00:08:18] It was weird.
[00:08:19] That-
[00:08:20] That's an audience problem.
[00:08:21] That's not her problem.
[00:08:22] No, it's not her problem at all but like it should just show you like where she's at
[00:08:23] in her career there where everyone's like, oh, the ju-ju-stee- I want the juice.
[00:08:27] And I love-
[00:08:28] But I do love that they're leading it like showing Glenn Powell right?
[00:08:31] That's great.
[00:08:32] Like it was adorable.
[00:08:33] Right in the model.
[00:08:34] For a first time actress that's that young to try to figure that shit out, we've seen veteran
[00:08:40] actress stumble through that and that's really hard.
[00:08:44] Yeah.
[00:08:45] So good for her.
[00:08:46] It was short, it was sweet, it was fine.
[00:08:47] It was what it needed to be.
[00:08:48] Yeah, she didn't have to do much but there wasn't you know-
[00:08:50] And I know that I do say like I over and over again, that model will tell me how much confidence
[00:08:56] I have with those right?
[00:08:58] And this one did not make me feel bad.
[00:09:00] I didn't think, oh, fuck what are we in for?
[00:09:02] I was all nervous because it was short and they didn't give her a lot to do.
[00:09:05] But again, she didn't fumble her lines, she didn't like misread a cue card, she didn't
[00:09:11] you know-
[00:09:12] Potably fart.
[00:09:13] I wouldn't have been fine with that.
[00:09:15] You.
[00:09:16] He said this is a weird thing.
[00:09:18] Um, but let me say this, I didn't love this episode.
[00:09:20] I think Brad's gonna like this one better than I did.
[00:09:22] I didn't love this episode but I never thought Cindy Swini was the weakest part of it.
[00:09:25] The problem, yeah.
[00:09:26] The weakest part was there was just some really unfunny sketches.
[00:09:30] But moving on-
[00:09:31] Detectives, two girls played by Cindy Swini and Sidney Swini and Chloe Feynman interned
[00:09:36] in an office of detectives which includes Keenan Thompson, Mikey Day, Ego Wodham and James
[00:09:41] Austin Johnson, Heidi Gardner, also stars as a woman.
[00:09:45] I am incredibly talented at internet sleuthing like it is a skill that I have that I could
[00:09:51] be one of these girls.
[00:09:52] Then no Nate was gonna start tootin his own.
[00:09:54] I was gonna say what is-
[00:09:55] I just when I saw this, when I saw this I'm like, I could do that.
[00:09:59] I'm really good at figuring out like, like I follow you guys.
[00:10:03] I know where you're at almost every time every minute.
[00:10:06] I don't keep it a secret.
[00:10:07] He's without texture and say hey I'm over here.
[00:10:11] Hey, I'm going to the bathroom now.
[00:10:12] And Nate's like, I know where Brad is.
[00:10:14] I'm gonna go to the bathroom.
[00:10:16] I know.
[00:10:17] What did you guys think of this?
[00:10:18] I thought they were silly.
[00:10:20] I thought it was fine.
[00:10:21] I thought the sketch was fine.
[00:10:22] I didn't think it was hilarious but I thought it was fine.
[00:10:23] No, I really liked this one because there is a certain kind of person I think especially
[00:10:27] among Gen Z where like, and it's usually it's-
[00:10:32] You can see women with this kind of personality.
[00:10:34] Like that slight vocal fry and this very kind of casual attitude about everything where
[00:10:40] they can easily sneak around and find information from other people's social media accounts.
[00:10:44] They did a good job of that where it's like we're solving a murder but it's not a big deal.
[00:10:49] Yeah.
[00:10:50] And that is a thing where that generation is like yeah, how is this hard for you?
[00:10:54] Oh yeah, this is what I did.
[00:10:55] Yeah.
[00:10:56] At first I thought they were gonna do something where they were gonna be like true crime
[00:11:00] podcasters and be terrible at like, you know.
[00:11:03] Sure.
[00:11:04] I'm glad they didn't know.
[00:11:05] Yeah, I'm glad they were the expert compared to.
[00:11:06] Yeah, agreed.
[00:11:07] Yeah, it was-
[00:11:08] And you did a great job too of being like well there's another one.
[00:11:09] Another beautiful naked lady.
[00:11:10] Yeah, that was a weird thing and I liked it.
[00:11:13] Yeah, it was fun.
[00:11:14] So then Mikey day bringing it up, like why do you keep describing them like beautifully?
[00:11:18] I think it was ego who did it.
[00:11:19] Oh sorry.
[00:11:20] They're not all- you don't have to say that every time.
[00:11:22] It was good.
[00:11:23] Yeah, it was good.
[00:11:24] Naked didn't like it as much.
[00:11:25] I was just fine.
[00:11:26] I just thought it was fine.
[00:11:27] I didn't think it was great.
[00:11:28] Like it was good performances.
[00:11:30] It was a fine sketch.
[00:11:31] There was nothing in here that stood out to me though.
[00:11:33] Well when I saw Sydney Swini doing this though, like what this was like when I was like
[00:11:38] oh okay she's gonna be pretty good at this.
[00:11:40] Well and then so again, her and Chloe Feynman right?
[00:11:43] And so watching them both do the exact same thing and Sydney Swini being on the level of
[00:11:50] Chloe.
[00:11:51] I'm like to your point, that's exactly what I'm gonna see in the first sketch.
[00:11:54] Like she's not behind.
[00:11:56] She's not floating her lines.
[00:11:58] She's right there with her.
[00:11:59] She's adding.
[00:12:00] She's yes, and as far as that is concerned I really was like okay we're on solid footing
[00:12:04] here.
[00:12:05] Yeah.
[00:12:06] All right moving on.
[00:12:07] We're back with another please don't destroy.
[00:12:10] Gone too soon.
[00:12:11] Ben Marshall John Higgins and Martin Hurley he shared their grief over the passing of a friend
[00:12:15] with Sydney Swini.
[00:12:18] Why have you guys never called me Reverend but cheek P Rosenthal?
[00:12:22] I will from now on.
[00:12:23] Because his middle name is P.S.
[00:12:25] I do really enjoy that we do this a lot when we're trying to be serious and this is not
[00:12:30] a bit.
[00:12:31] You have to like when you do enough comedy and you're fucking around all the time with
[00:12:36] your friends, you have to tell them when you're being serious otherwise they're just gonna
[00:12:40] start making jokes.
[00:12:42] So sometimes when I'm around Brad I'm like I'm not doing a bit what do you think about
[00:12:46] this?
[00:12:47] And then it means in his mind he goes oh I've got to actually fucking care right?
[00:12:51] That's what this sketch is personified and I fucking loved it because of that.
[00:12:56] Like the idea that they're like I know this is sound weird and so I'm like oh yeah this
[00:13:00] is what I do with my friends like I'm not doing a bit.
[00:13:02] It sounds absolutely hilarious.
[00:13:03] I know it's gonna say absolutely but but but but cheek peaked.
[00:13:08] It was great.
[00:13:09] The one thing I will say though is because I did think it was funny for a please don't
[00:13:14] destroy sketch.
[00:13:15] It didn't seem like they had nearly as much escalation of the absurdity as they normally
[00:13:20] do.
[00:13:21] I loved what they did.
[00:13:22] I do wish of course as always it would have gotten sillier because that's what they're
[00:13:25] good at.
[00:13:26] Part of me think it was fine with it too like I didn't need that part of me that I think
[00:13:29] too is I was a little disappointed in the payoff that all we got was the audio of what
[00:13:33] happened as opposed to something more not that I needed to see it necessarily but it just
[00:13:37] felt like a little bit like a bit of a cheap yeah cheap way out yeah that's her maybe
[00:13:42] actually was writing night like really late in the night and they just have the time.
[00:13:47] Oh I see.
[00:13:48] Yeah.
[00:13:49] I mean they really set that up like that.
[00:13:52] I was happy it was nice to have them back.
[00:13:56] Like you know what I said miss them but they but as Nate has pointed out previously they
[00:14:00] do a lot of heavy lifting on the writing side so sometimes maybe you don't get that
[00:14:03] but I really was really.
[00:14:04] Oh we haven't seen them since that go Johnson right madam web madam web which is another
[00:14:08] great one.
[00:14:09] Yeah.
[00:14:10] No that was great.
[00:14:11] That was better than this one.
[00:14:12] Yeah.
[00:14:13] Now listeners of this podcast might not know our goflixers of listeners probably do know
[00:14:17] that in our studio tonight there is two posters on the wall one for cars from the
[00:14:22] 2026 cars film.
[00:14:26] That's not for future from the future.
[00:14:28] I'm sorry it doesn't say Nate Nate it's not goflixers it's not a time change.
[00:14:32] Oh wow.
[00:14:33] 2006.
[00:14:34] 2006 and the poster says the all new 2006 made literally was really I was literally
[00:14:40] I might have dyslexia or just be dumb.
[00:14:44] That's okay.
[00:14:45] It's okay but I am dumb.
[00:14:46] It's cars and air but air but is the other poster.
[00:14:50] And there was a sketch called air but Cindy Swinney plays a cheerleader who meets air
[00:14:54] but the new star basketball player who is actually a dog.
[00:14:59] The cast also includes Ego Woldem and Chloe five minutes cheerleaders Mikey Day is Buds
[00:15:03] owner and Andrew Smukes and Marcel Hernandez as basketball players.
[00:15:09] You put a dog in a sketch and I'm going to wait for that dog to have fun and this dog
[00:15:14] was a really well behaved dog out of all the dogs I've had this is probably.
[00:15:19] Yeah it's okay.
[00:15:20] You got to think that.
[00:15:21] I like to do a dog do some fun.
[00:15:23] Also he's old you can see or he or she that's an old dog.
[00:15:28] You can't you know you can't see your new tricks.
[00:15:30] It can go one of two ways you could have a dog that doesn't cooperate and that makes
[00:15:34] the sketch funnier or you have a dog that is this good and makes it work because he's
[00:15:39] so adorable and it's just fun every time they cut him I wasn't expecting him to do something
[00:15:43] weird.
[00:15:44] I was expecting what I got and that makes the sketch work.
[00:15:47] And then of course he just adorable eats that sandwich.
[00:15:50] Oh my god and the fact that they of course they decide like here's what we're going to
[00:15:54] do to keep the dog occupied.
[00:15:55] But my goodness I wanted to pet that dog so hard.
[00:15:58] But watching Sydney Swini get dramatic with the dog and around with a dog and hitting
[00:16:02] on the dog.
[00:16:03] And then of course the just a position right like they're coming in like you know it's
[00:16:07] a dog right?
[00:16:08] Like that was great.
[00:16:10] This was one of my favorite sketches of the night.
[00:16:11] Yeah I thought this is a good sketch.
[00:16:13] I thought the performances were good.
[00:16:16] Sydney Swini was particularly fun in this sketch for me so.
[00:16:18] Whoever got high and watched Airbud and came out.
[00:16:21] Exactly that's what it's like.
[00:16:22] So friends of go flick yourself Ben and Susan, Susan's Warner and Ben Bloom.
[00:16:29] Text said Brad and I said did you see that?
[00:16:32] We have a good running inside joke with them about that but I hadn't seen the episode running
[00:16:38] out that text message and it made me so excited and I'm so happy it paid off.
[00:16:41] It's a really fun sketch.
[00:16:43] Good stuff.
[00:16:44] And so is Airbud.
[00:16:46] As a movie?
[00:16:47] Yeah.
[00:16:48] Hey there's no rule says the dog can't play basketball.
[00:16:50] Exactly.
[00:16:51] All right moving on big bench a group of judges including Ego Vodum, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner,
[00:16:57] Keenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Andrew Dismune, Xmarsello Hernandez and Michael Longfellow
[00:17:01] tried to sell a court case between a woman named Sydney Swini and her or sorry a woman
[00:17:07] played by Sydney Swini, inter-sisters husband James Austin Johnson.
[00:17:11] Pass.
[00:17:12] I thought this had so much potential.
[00:17:14] Yeah it was such a let down.
[00:17:15] Like I felt like oh this premise is wonderful.
[00:17:17] I think there's some really fun things that can happen here and even like things that
[00:17:21] you could bring back.
[00:17:22] This was even terrible.
[00:17:23] I mean honestly they just never met anything.
[00:17:26] So it didn't go the route that I thought it was going to because what I thought they were
[00:17:30] going to do as I thought that it was just going to be a constant rotation of introducing all
[00:17:34] judges and it was never going to end.
[00:17:35] It was always going to be.
[00:17:36] That would have been amazing.
[00:17:37] That would have been really funny.
[00:17:38] Also did you think it was going to be the same dog?
[00:17:41] First split second.
[00:17:42] Yeah, they're like and the dog judge away from it.
[00:17:45] And then there's not that good for you SNL way to go.
[00:17:48] But yeah I was disappointed by this because it and it's just because A it wasn't as
[00:17:53] funny as it could have been and B I didn't feel like it went in the most interesting direction.
[00:17:58] I love James Austin Johnson.
[00:17:59] I hated this that character.
[00:18:03] I just didn't like his addition to the sketch at all.
[00:18:06] I thought this mix was good though.
[00:18:07] Yeah he was.
[00:18:08] I did not like that character though.
[00:18:10] Well, I think you just only read next.
[00:18:12] I mean that was true.
[00:18:13] Sure.
[00:18:14] Okay.
[00:18:15] Oh, you got me there.
[00:18:16] Yeah.
[00:18:17] Put me on blast, Brad things.
[00:18:18] Oh, it's pretty mean.
[00:18:20] One of my favorite skills.
[00:18:21] Fuck Redneck.
[00:18:22] They're good Americans, Ben.
[00:18:23] Oh boy.
[00:18:24] One of my favorite sketches of the nights.
[00:18:26] Bowen straight, written by Bowen Yang.
[00:18:28] Will Steven, August White and Gary Richardson.
[00:18:30] Sydney Swini discovers that Bowen Yang is in fact straight.
[00:18:34] This guy also includes Heidi Gardner, I go, Wotem, Mikey Day, Marcelo Hernandez and Devon
[00:18:39] Walker.
[00:18:40] There's also a cameo by the great Gina Gershon which is just such a random awesome cameo.
[00:18:46] Yeah, so good.
[00:18:47] But this sketch was awesome.
[00:18:49] I thought this is hilarious.
[00:18:51] Awesome.
[00:18:52] I love that that Bowen was probably the the impetus for this like the writer of this and
[00:18:56] like guys that got this idea.
[00:18:58] Sydney Swini.
[00:18:59] I mean, he's the he's the straightest sassy bitch I've ever seen.
[00:19:02] I love it.
[00:19:03] He was so still bowing but the man they played it perfectly.
[00:19:08] It was so good.
[00:19:09] Do you what do you guys think about?
[00:19:12] He's gay.
[00:19:13] He's gay.
[00:19:14] No, no, sorry.
[00:19:15] So a lot of go straight for Sydney Swini.
[00:19:16] I mean, yeah.
[00:19:18] A lot of the sketches certainly played on Sydney Swini's being kind of a sex figure of these
[00:19:24] kind of things and you know, well, let's talk about that.
[00:19:28] Well, I know, no, no, I can't.
[00:19:30] The very first sketch was the detectable and that wasn't sexual right?
[00:19:33] And then what was the second one?
[00:19:37] Detectives was the well, sorry, the cold opens one her monologist to then the detective is
[00:19:43] the mind along with sexual.
[00:19:45] She talked about her, you know, she was wearing a very weird being that my last sex was
[00:19:48] because she's showing cleavage and eight relax.
[00:19:50] I mean, she talks about her roles having sex and crying and well, she talks about that
[00:19:55] that's the kind of role she's in.
[00:19:56] I know, I know.
[00:19:57] And clearly I don't think that they were playing her up as sexual in that moment, right?
[00:20:00] This was not a Jacob, it was.
[00:20:02] It wasn't and and and the detective's one was not at all that, right?
[00:20:05] I mean, she's playing kind of a snow.
[00:20:08] It was not sexual.
[00:20:09] Yeah, they're playing it up like talking about her being attractive or a hot girl or anything
[00:20:13] not at all.
[00:20:14] Not even one.
[00:20:15] That's what she was.
[00:20:16] It was a hot girl with another hot girl.
[00:20:17] Just because she is an attractive girl doesn't mean it's always about attractive.
[00:20:19] It was Christ.
[00:20:20] I know I bring this up because this was obviously something that was talked about.
[00:20:24] I'm orange.
[00:20:25] This was essentially Jacob already for girls.
[00:20:27] No, it wasn't.
[00:20:28] It was not a disagree hard.
[00:20:29] And I even wrote this in my review.
[00:20:30] I completely disagree with the exception of the, because there's the hooters.
[00:20:35] The hooters one of course.
[00:20:36] Yeah, of course.
[00:20:37] That's it wasn't even that funny though.
[00:20:39] But otherwise they didn't play it, play up or lean into that and like sit there and
[00:20:43] watch the detective sketch.
[00:20:44] And my very first thought was these are two very young people that are good at things
[00:20:49] that old people wouldn't be good at.
[00:20:50] I never once thought this is sexualized and never once.
[00:20:53] And even with the Bowen straight one, it's not about Bowen turning straight because Sydney
[00:20:58] Swini is so hot.
[00:20:59] They could have done that by the way.
[00:21:01] Yeah, it's already established that he's pretending to be straight all the time.
[00:21:06] So like that.
[00:21:07] Pretending to be gay all the time.
[00:21:08] Yeah, sorry, pretending to be gay all the time.
[00:21:09] Yeah, so the fact that they could have lean into like that's actually an excellent point.
[00:21:14] They could have lean into Sydney Swini's got her tits out and she's so hot that Bowen
[00:21:18] straight, but that's not what they did.
[00:21:20] Yeah, it's bone has always been straight.
[00:21:22] He's playing gay.
[00:21:23] And by the way you can't get him right or maybe you can't.
[00:21:27] That's the funny bit to me.
[00:21:29] And they did the reverse of Jacob or Lordy where yeah, the hooder's catch is as a one off.
[00:21:34] You're going to probably have one of those.
[00:21:36] But by and large I was very impressed that they did different things differently.
[00:21:40] All the sketches were not like talking about how hot she was or that like she was a beautiful
[00:21:44] girl or anything like that.
[00:21:46] Nate?
[00:21:47] It was a question I saw online.
[00:21:49] It was a conversation happening online.
[00:21:50] I just wanted to bring them back up.
[00:21:51] Tell me the fuck off.
[00:21:52] I'm sorry.
[00:21:53] Don't present it as your own opinion then.
[00:21:54] I was literally asking a question.
[00:21:56] That's all I was doing right.
[00:21:57] You're upset at me right now.
[00:21:59] Listen, Joe Rogan.
[00:22:00] Yeah, I'm just asking questions.
[00:22:01] I'm just asking the question.
[00:22:02] I'm just asking the question.
[00:22:03] I'm just asking the question.
[00:22:04] All right.
[00:22:05] What about the vaccine?
[00:22:06] Yeah, the vaccines are fake.
[00:22:07] I'm just asking the question right.
[00:22:08] The vaccines are fake right?
[00:22:09] That's a question right.
[00:22:10] The vaccines aren't fake, but why does everyone die when they take it?
[00:22:14] Nate laughs.
[00:22:15] I'm just asking questions.
[00:22:17] All right.
[00:22:18] Make-up artists things taken on.
[00:22:20] Super sexualized.
[00:22:21] I hated it.
[00:22:22] They just made city swinging super sexual.
[00:22:24] I don't mean she is pretty sexual in this one.
[00:22:26] But things taken unexpected turn after two make-up artists played by city swinging
[00:22:31] in San Sherman.
[00:22:32] Finish the make-up for a bride played by Heidi Gardner.
[00:22:36] Shoes.
[00:22:38] They forgot to write a punchline on this one.
[00:22:42] No, honestly, I liked the sketch.
[00:22:43] Did you?
[00:22:44] Because I didn't love it.
[00:22:45] I liked it.
[00:22:46] And I think it's because it kind of felt like a 90s throwback kind of sketch.
[00:22:50] It's like there's two characters that you might have seen in a 90s sketch where
[00:22:55] it has this recurring punchline and it could be a catchphrase that you could easily see
[00:23:00] it happening in different arenas.
[00:23:02] Maybe next time they work somewhere else, but it's the same kind of shoe.
[00:23:07] It didn't necessarily go anywhere exciting.
[00:23:10] That was my problem.
[00:23:11] That's my biggest problem.
[00:23:12] Yeah, that's my biggest problem.
[00:23:14] And so we talk about escalation all the time, but like you don't necessarily have to
[00:23:20] have escalation if the sketch does go somewhere with the same, does that make sense?
[00:23:25] Yeah.
[00:23:26] Like it can be funny and that's the premise, but it physically just goes somewhere different
[00:23:31] without escalation.
[00:23:32] But if you're repeating the same thing over and over again, it's not as...
[00:23:36] And that's the rock spur.
[00:23:37] Same thing over again, but you change it ever so slightly.
[00:23:41] There's not escalation there, but it's the same characters, but there are some really funny
[00:23:45] bits just around...
[00:23:47] Like we talked about that show or that movie where the scene where they're just throwing
[00:23:51] the plants into the van.
[00:23:53] It's one of the funniest scenes that I've literally ever seen.
[00:23:55] Like I laughed out loud when I saw it.
[00:23:57] That has nothing to do with the Wutabi brothers being co-heads.
[00:24:01] Wutabi brothers.
[00:24:02] Bootabi would be with the W?
[00:24:05] Bootabi.
[00:24:06] Bootabi, like I said, I want you to say it.
[00:24:08] Bootabi.
[00:24:09] So with the Wutabi brothers, they throw the plants...
[00:24:12] It's funny.
[00:24:13] It's the same characters.
[00:24:14] It's not necessarily escalation.
[00:24:15] It's just something different that they're doing and it's still funny.
[00:24:18] That's allowed.
[00:24:19] Hey, that's allowed.
[00:24:21] Okay.
[00:24:22] It's comedy.
[00:24:23] I'm sorry that you didn't like it.
[00:24:25] Why do you hate laughing?
[00:24:26] Hey, break it out your phone.
[00:24:28] Alright, you got it right here.
[00:24:31] Put a number in there for the Brominer.
[00:24:32] Oh yeah.
[00:24:34] Ben, while he's doing that, explain what the Brominer is.
[00:24:36] When we have we go to update which is every time that's going to happen.
[00:24:40] Bread, he measures the interaction and jovial nature between the two co-hosts, Colin,
[00:24:47] Joe's, Michael J.
[00:24:49] And how much fun they're kind of playing off each other and how much sass, how much fun
[00:24:53] are we having?
[00:24:54] Yes, if it's a better episode overall, they're having more fun and therefore the Brominer
[00:25:00] goes a lot higher.
[00:25:02] It doesn't necessarily mean that the episode has to be amazing, but it will lend itself
[00:25:09] to a higher Brominer.
[00:25:10] So we make bread put it in his calculator to show us because we used to just say I say
[00:25:14] it's a 72.
[00:25:15] Yeah, no trust me though.
[00:25:16] I don't trust you because then he's like, hmm, it's been a time that I've told you
[00:25:19] as you're right.
[00:25:20] Well yeah, I don't know about that.
[00:25:22] Nate, I'll let you go for it this time.
[00:25:24] What do you think about the Brominer this time around?
[00:25:26] I watch it very intently this week thinking, alright, let's take a cue for like,
[00:25:32] let's make a note for all the times that they looked at each other with a little bit of,
[00:25:36] you know.
[00:25:37] I kind of did the same actually.
[00:25:38] I was like, I'm going to think this one really seriously.
[00:25:39] And I thought there was going to be quite a bit actually.
[00:25:41] I did as well.
[00:25:42] I'm not going to lie to you.
[00:25:43] I'm going to go 85.
[00:25:44] Oh, I see.
[00:25:45] I was going to say 80 but now that you said 85, do I want to go more?
[00:25:48] Because you usually more than I am.
[00:25:49] Yeah.
[00:25:50] Oh shit.
[00:25:51] Man.
[00:25:52] Okay, you really put me in a pic of the night because I was really going to say 80 this
[00:25:55] time.
[00:25:56] You know, I'm going to do 90.
[00:25:57] I'll do 90.
[00:25:58] I'll go a number.
[00:25:59] I'll go above it.
[00:26:00] You guys are way off.
[00:26:01] Really?
[00:26:02] I put 60.
[00:26:03] Really?
[00:26:04] This was great.
[00:26:05] They're wrong.
[00:26:06] You're so wrong.
[00:26:07] The brother is wrong.
[00:26:08] Broke it.
[00:26:09] Broke it.
[00:26:10] You know what, guys?
[00:26:11] We're going to take this into the shop.
[00:26:12] We're going to shut up.
[00:26:13] The main denominator reset.
[00:26:14] Yeah.
[00:26:15] Next week, Nate, I want the main denominator.
[00:26:17] Okay.
[00:26:18] That's why I want Brad.
[00:26:19] You're out.
[00:26:20] Nate's in.
[00:26:21] So here's a thing.
[00:26:22] They did share a lot of quick glances with each other but it didn't feel like it was
[00:26:27] ever like in a good groove or they had like a really solid like.
[00:26:31] But there was a bad camera cut on one of them.
[00:26:34] That was a problem.
[00:26:35] It's not their fault, but it ruined it.
[00:26:37] It ruined it.
[00:26:38] It didn't make me feel like they had the connection was working because you didn't get
[00:26:41] to see it working in harmony with each other.
[00:26:43] And so it is a control room mistake because there was a really poor cut to Colin that
[00:26:48] was just took him way too long and like, oh shit, what are we doing?
[00:26:50] I remember thinking why are they waiting?
[00:26:52] Yeah, why are they holding on?
[00:26:53] Shit, what's going on?
[00:26:54] Like are they waiting trying to do something funny with Joe?
[00:26:56] Don Roy King, we miss you.
[00:26:58] So yeah.
[00:26:59] This is direction and this season is.
[00:27:00] I'm not joking.
[00:27:01] That kind of ruined it.
[00:27:02] And then like, yeah, the rest of it just didn't feel like it was enough to really build anything
[00:27:07] that like it didn't build upon itself and there wasn't a lot there that stood out to me even
[00:27:12] though it gets to you a little bit.
[00:27:14] Sorry guys.
[00:27:15] Yeah, no, 60 though.
[00:27:16] 60's low for that.
[00:27:17] That is low.
[00:27:18] You have to admit that's low for that.
[00:27:19] I felt low.
[00:27:20] I felt low.
[00:27:21] You need to rewatch it.
[00:27:22] Every watcher.
[00:27:23] It was wrong.
[00:27:24] I didn't feel a lot.
[00:27:25] Did somebody hurt you?
[00:27:26] Yeah.
[00:27:27] Who are you?
[00:27:28] I feel a lot.
[00:27:31] Was it Colin Joost?
[00:27:32] He's got a punchable face.
[00:27:33] He's got a half in the love.
[00:27:34] How about that Heidi Gardner character?
[00:27:35] All right, let's move on.
[00:27:36] Yep.
[00:27:37] We get up to anchor is Colin Joost and Michael Chek covered this week's top news including Mitch
[00:27:41] McConnell's announcement that he will be resigning from the position as Senate leader at the
[00:27:45] end of the year in Staten Island hosting a LBG, LBGTQ friendly Saint Patrick's Day party.
[00:27:53] Did you know Colin Joost has gone to break the all time weekend update episode record and
[00:27:57] continues to grow his legacy.
[00:27:59] He has broken every record for Weekend of Day host.
[00:28:03] Is he now do you think the most legendary, maybe not the greatest, the most legendary Weekend
[00:28:08] of Day host?
[00:28:09] No.
[00:28:10] No.
[00:28:11] No.
[00:28:12] No.
[00:28:13] No.
[00:28:14] No.
[00:28:15] No.
[00:28:16] No.
[00:28:17] No.
[00:28:18] No.
[00:28:19] No.
[00:28:20] No.
[00:28:21] No.
[00:28:22] No.
[00:28:23] No.
[00:28:24] No.
[00:28:25] No.
[00:28:27] It's really cool when people buck the system he truly did.
[00:28:30] Yeah, he made it so he wanted and he was hilarious and he did what he wanted.
[00:28:35] I would say probably for the newer generations, Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon probably are Tina
[00:28:41] Fey and Amy Polar.
[00:28:42] Tina Fey and Seth Meyers.
[00:28:46] Those are hard.
[00:28:47] Amy Polar and Seth Meyers.
[00:28:48] Sorry, Amy Polar.
[00:28:49] Those three interactions are very blended together now.
[00:28:53] So I look at that as an era even though they're different.
[00:28:55] I'm sure they had the same approach.
[00:28:57] Exactly.
[00:28:58] I do and then there is the Colin Jones and Michael Chay era, but I don't look at Colin
[00:29:02] Jones without Michael.
[00:29:03] Yeah.
[00:29:04] You just can't.
[00:29:05] They are duplicitous in that, right?
[00:29:08] No, you disagree.
[00:29:10] Yeah.
[00:29:11] I agree.
[00:29:12] Like Colin Jones would not be legendary but if you say Colin Jones and Michael Jay, yeah,
[00:29:16] that's a legendary team on Weekend of Day 1 for sure.
[00:29:21] There was a lot of great, this is why I thought you would like this because I kind of feel
[00:29:26] that there's some chemistry here too between the as seen here stuff from Mitch McConnell.
[00:29:31] Yeah, but that wasn't that wasn't that they had a couple different like there was no
[00:29:35] little laughs from each other for that.
[00:29:37] I don't think this week in addition to we can update in general was very good.
[00:29:40] So they haven't done looks like you know it's seen here right in a bit.
[00:29:45] So the fact that they did the four of them, I really did like that.
[00:29:48] That was my favorite part was actually that they did that and they did it one right after
[00:29:52] the.
[00:29:53] Yeah, that was the part that I like.
[00:29:54] Otherwise, I didn't think this is all like great.
[00:29:56] It was fine.
[00:29:58] I also did.
[00:29:59] Yeah.
[00:30:00] What do you want to talk about?
[00:30:01] Heidi.
[00:30:02] All right, moving on.
[00:30:03] We can know that woman who is aging gracefully on confidence.
[00:30:06] A woman who is aging gracefully played by Heidi Gardner stuff.
[00:30:09] So are we going to update to discuss how to maintain confidence at any age?
[00:30:12] I wanted to see how long I keep you from talking about Heidi Gardner on that one.
[00:30:16] Every Heidi Gardner character is perfect.
[00:30:18] And this one was tough.
[00:30:20] I love her to death, but it's a amusing prospect.
[00:30:24] It is because everyone knows a woman like this, but it doesn't work and I don't, but see
[00:30:29] here's the thing.
[00:30:30] Here's where I'm going to just point out loud.
[00:30:31] I have no idea why.
[00:30:32] Like I don't know what I could have done to make this better.
[00:30:34] I don't know that this should have been a thing.
[00:30:37] Yeah.
[00:30:38] It just didn't, it just doesn't do enough.
[00:30:39] It just didn't work as like an ongoing thing for me.
[00:30:42] Like I didn't.
[00:30:43] The funny thing was the stuff in her back.
[00:30:45] I thought the physical actual makeup comedy.
[00:30:50] I was like, oh, that's a reveal and it happened at the end, which was escalation.
[00:30:55] That's great.
[00:30:56] That was hilarious.
[00:30:57] That was funny.
[00:30:58] I laughed out loud at that, but it took a long time to get there and it was kind of just
[00:31:01] happy, hazard and asking her all the way.
[00:31:04] It was just weird.
[00:31:05] Yeah.
[00:31:06] It didn't work for me.
[00:31:07] But there was another one.
[00:31:08] We can update Charlotte, the stingray on her pregnancy written by Alex English.
[00:31:12] Echo Wotum, Asher Warden, Gary Richardson, Charlotte, the stingray who is played by
[00:31:17] Echo Wotum stops by weekend update to discuss her mysterious pregnancy, which was apparently
[00:31:25] by Michael Chek.
[00:31:26] Now, is this a reaction to Sarah Sherman and Colin Jost?
[00:31:29] Are they trying now to like the Heidi Gardner couple weeks ago did the fortune teller thing
[00:31:35] and now Echo Wotum has done this playing with Che.
[00:31:38] Is this a direct reaction to it?
[00:31:40] Like you know, they're saying no.
[00:31:41] Not that it's like not fair, but like they've known that fucking with an anchor is funny
[00:31:45] and so let's do that.
[00:31:46] I think that's more than that.
[00:31:47] It's not a reaction.
[00:31:48] It's that they know it's a recipe for.
[00:31:50] I'm being like not this is a jealous thing.
[00:31:53] I'm just saying they see a recipe for success.
[00:31:55] Why don't we do it on the other side of the dish?
[00:31:57] I think that's why Marceau Hernandez did it last week.
[00:32:00] So in the case of this though, is they've made similar jokes about Che before though,
[00:32:04] about how he sleeps around.
[00:32:05] A how dog and he has illegitimate children.
[00:32:08] So this leans in pretty hard.
[00:32:09] So yeah, so that kind of ribbing but having it be a character like this and one that is
[00:32:13] like, ribbing Michael Che in character does feel like at least somewhat of an of a different
[00:32:20] approach to that.
[00:32:21] A bit of it.
[00:32:22] Yeah.
[00:32:23] Because you can say, you know, because Michael Che will make a joke about himself or
[00:32:27] then or or Colin just saying he doesn't have to work on or whatever.
[00:32:30] Right?
[00:32:31] But having a character do it felt Sherman asked with Joe's.
[00:32:34] Yeah, exactly.
[00:32:35] And I think for me is because I think Echo was good in this character.
[00:32:39] He figured out of being this, you know, sassy stingray.
[00:32:42] But at the same time, I just don't think that Che works in as well as a target.
[00:32:48] Either right.
[00:32:50] And I think that's probably because in their realized Michael Che doesn't give a shit and
[00:32:56] Colin just does exactly he really, he kind of just really does feel bad about everything
[00:33:00] all the time.
[00:33:01] And Che has the confidence just really now.
[00:33:03] This is whatever.
[00:33:04] Yeah, not okay.
[00:33:05] I don't believe it as much as I believe it with.
[00:33:07] Yeah, exactly.
[00:33:09] However, it's still funny when he does like come on man, I'm not doing it.
[00:33:13] It's funny but it's just not as good of a punchline.
[00:33:15] Yeah.
[00:33:16] Because you know, he doesn't have a punchable face.
[00:33:18] Yeah.
[00:33:19] Yep.
[00:33:20] Alright, so another sketch that wasn't sexualizing.
[00:33:23] Um, okay.
[00:33:24] Oh, who does waitress?
[00:33:25] A new waitress projectile.
[00:33:27] How dare you think this sexualized.
[00:33:29] He's really nothing sexual about a restaurant called who called hooters causes problems
[00:33:35] for co workers, Chloe five minutes.
[00:33:37] They're Sherman and Boeing gang hooters.
[00:33:40] The episode also includes Ken and Thompson Mikey Day, Andrew Smith and Michael Longfellow
[00:33:43] as customers and James Austin Johnson has the hooters mascot.
[00:33:47] So one of the things I did love about this sketch was obviously, um, Sydney, sweetie.
[00:33:51] Looks great in here.
[00:33:52] I mean, Eli, it was Boeing Yang made me laugh a ton of out of his.
[00:33:57] He was hilarious.
[00:33:58] And it wasn't just that when he walked over there, like, nope, the whole episode, the whole
[00:34:02] sketch of just seeing him in that outfit and like interacting was great.
[00:34:06] Like, yeah, just so funny because he's got that that confidence.
[00:34:10] Yeah, I'm one of the one of the staff members.
[00:34:13] It was good.
[00:34:14] I mean, that was a lot of fun.
[00:34:15] Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny.
[00:34:16] What do you think, Brad?
[00:34:17] Yeah, for me, this is the premise just feels so basic.
[00:34:20] Sure.
[00:34:21] It's like, oh, yeah, of course, the hot, which is who are just getting these big tips while
[00:34:24] everyone else isn't.
[00:34:25] That's that was really clearly, you know why, right?
[00:34:28] Yeah.
[00:34:29] It was very basic.
[00:34:31] However, I still enjoyed it because she's very traditional but also I was a
[00:34:35] the adjunct of Boney and that that's what made it a little a little bit more palatable.
[00:34:39] But I will agree.
[00:34:40] It's a very one note sketch.
[00:34:42] This was the most Jacobal or the version of what they did.
[00:34:44] Yeah.
[00:34:45] All right, moving on Airbnb design commercial written by Chloe Trost.
[00:34:50] I don't know if she's written it a ton yet, but she did write this one.
[00:34:52] Ben Marshall John Higgins Martin Hurley, Mike DeSense, I'm Jake Nordwin, two women played by
[00:34:57] Sydney, sweetie and Chloe Trost.
[00:34:58] They're going to advertise their interior design company for Airbnb's.
[00:35:02] We have a text start going on between the three of us because we have these two podcasts
[00:35:05] and we're just good friends anyway, but well, we're fine.
[00:35:09] We're fine.
[00:35:10] We're fine right now.
[00:35:11] We are acquaintances.
[00:35:13] But in that we sometimes when things happen in the country or in the world, we'll say
[00:35:18] do you think they're going to talk about this at all on Saturday night?
[00:35:21] Will they parody of this?
[00:35:22] Will they do anything?
[00:35:23] And the willy walk out experience come up and I think it was you Brad that said you
[00:35:28] think they will talk about this and Ben said they wouldn't I said that they'll have a
[00:35:32] sketch.
[00:35:33] I said if they have a sketch about it, then I'll pay you $15.
[00:35:36] No, that's how it is.
[00:35:37] And Brad said and Brad said, and Brad said I bet and they mentioned it as a one of line
[00:35:42] and not even fucking I'm not paying.
[00:35:44] And we don't say that for it on this one.
[00:35:47] We can just.
[00:35:48] You know when he comes up in line, we fucking do it.
[00:35:51] It's really upset about it.
[00:35:53] Ben paid himself into a corner on this one because he could've gotten away with it if
[00:35:56] that's what he went but he decided to go all in because
[00:35:59] benthought that it was just a little internet thing no one knows
[00:36:03] you'll be talking about this this thing spread far and why this made
[00:36:06] national news i freaking can't wait for the next all
[00:36:10] all will be the fire festival
[00:36:11] i can't wait all of the new channels it was all over the big
[00:36:16] on the
[00:36:16] issue it is done there's no
[00:36:18] issue
[00:36:19] and that's why i read it on the bed and went out of the internet thing
[00:36:24] i didn't think it was a real one of the funniest things of the year so far
[00:36:27] it's all over the place
[00:36:28] and they got mentioned it just in this game or more layers
[00:36:31] if you don't know if you don't know what happened brad what what really
[00:36:34] happened so in glass out of scotland there was this
[00:36:38] event that was put on that was made to seem like it's going to be this
[00:36:41] cool willy-wank ask experience for kids to come
[00:36:44] and i can't see things that kind of look like the inside of will walk
[00:36:47] a shop maybe they made it seem like you were going to walk in and like bite
[00:36:51] a flower made it yeah like a magical experience yeah like a literal but it's
[00:36:54] like it's like this big empty warehouse with like like sparsely
[00:36:59] sparsely decorated like a candy cane here there like a big lollipop flower
[00:37:03] had like a cheap photo background on like a wall and there was
[00:37:07] a very viral photo that came out with one woman
[00:37:10] sad sad woman and she just is they caught her with a frown on her face
[00:37:15] and there's a bit of like smoke in her eyes because it's like the
[00:37:18] a meth lab yeah and so they caught her in the in an industrial warehouse
[00:37:22] basically it's like the saddest oopalupa in the world yeah there's weird stuff
[00:37:26] like a villain called the unknown she chroma with dark hair she had to
[00:37:30] literally go on and make it take she doesn't have tick tock because you made
[00:37:35] it tick tock and she's very pretty yeah and very normal and she's like and I
[00:37:39] can't do an accent whatsoever but she's like I just didn't know how this was
[00:37:43] like that's not who I'm I took an acting job it's not going no there
[00:37:46] page she's two hundred five hundred bucks a weekend she's like yeah that's a
[00:37:50] good job I'm gonna take that and then when she realized that it was going so
[00:37:54] south she stayed and tried to make the kids experience good and then she is
[00:37:57] lamb blasted lamb lamb bastard for being like sad oopalupa it's like that's not
[00:38:02] fair land blasted lamb blasted she didn't necessarily get lamb
[00:38:07] bastard for like no one was like saying she was bad because of what was
[00:38:11] happening but the last was that look at this sad shit but it was just like
[00:38:15] there's not because it was because how pathetic it looks though but they were
[00:38:19] they were they were plenty of people that were talking about her as like wow
[00:38:22] you could have released I didn't see a lot of the cost is pretty many okay yes
[00:38:26] your Twitter followers are the mom or assholes but no so so you followed Joe
[00:38:30] Robin like I do but this premise the premise for the sketch is very funny
[00:38:33] because we've all been to Airbnb is where they have just like most generic
[00:38:36] shitty decorations live laugh that made me laugh the most was the the closet
[00:38:42] that is owned by the because every time I see I'm like I want in that I want
[00:38:47] it locked and I want it I got to know and I think it's gonna be a dead body
[00:38:51] no it's just their personal shit I think for some reason there's gold bars
[00:38:55] there's something in there they don't want me to know so I did I respected
[00:38:59] and loved that because I've been in plenty of Airbnb's and that is so fun
[00:39:02] into me but tossing in a quick mention as them being the ones who planned the
[00:39:06] Willy Wonka experiencing Glasgow was just just I owe Brad $15 because he did
[00:39:11] I said if they don't even mention it so what he said I will pay you son of a bitch
[00:39:16] someday I'll pay you he thinks he thinks he knows Sarah like I think she knows
[00:39:20] no pop culture but his name is for you're on the pulse of I know Sarah like I
[00:39:23] don't know you're on your own family you're on Twitter 27 hours
[00:39:27] you know what the zeitgeist is you know people are feeling I don't know what that means
[00:39:31] I don't know that means either yeah no ris yeah no don't know what that is
[00:39:36] you know what Rises yeah no no cap I don't you know a Rises he juxtaphan
[00:39:43] wow all right moving on that one I know he did loud table a couple played by
[00:39:49] Cindy Sweeney and Andrew Smokes deals with no easy no easy table as well in
[00:39:54] the date night this guest social features Chloe Feynman handy gardener Mollie
[00:39:57] Carney Mikey Dave Marcel Hernandez and Devon Walker and James Johnson as
[00:40:01] customers there's a can't cameo experience by glam poll certainly in the
[00:40:06] beginning and now in the end there was as was foretold by the profits the
[00:40:14] Elba and the Omega as in the beginning as in the end there was some funny parts
[00:40:19] to this that I thought could have been a lot funnier yes or could it could have
[00:40:24] it would it needed punched up a little bit more and I didn't like the way it
[00:40:28] and if this was tighter yeah this is a very very like almost an all-timer if you
[00:40:34] get it right yeah because I've never seen this before in on SNL or really
[00:40:39] anywhere where you can shut it down without being aggressive but like bringing up
[00:40:42] things that are perfect yeah and this is the only time that I thought Cindy Sweeney
[00:40:47] didn't really deliver what I was hoping she could deliver yeah because this
[00:40:50] moves did a pretty good job and then it cut to her and it was just a little
[00:40:54] bit she didn't she didn't have the right tone of like authority not even
[00:41:00] authority but like just mucous has a tone that it's like it's nostalgic melodrama
[00:41:04] right and she didn't pull it off for yeah but the way he was delivering I mean
[00:41:08] like so what I mean by authority is like the believability yeah he says it
[00:41:13] and they believe him because that's authority like ticity sorry often to see
[00:41:17] fine authority no but she didn't come across as like right and they believe you
[00:41:23] yeah but still those those women in that sketch had to believe her because she's
[00:41:27] the one delivering it and that's what the sketch is that was the problem this is
[00:41:31] the only time like I said that she didn't deliver on what I thought she could have
[00:41:33] done yeah other than that she did very good I wasn't she in ruin it no not all
[00:41:37] but like yeah there was I do think they is right it could have been tightened up
[00:41:41] I could have been a little bit better but it was still relatively fun yeah and
[00:41:44] and for something to go okay as far as delivery and still be that funny because I
[00:41:49] did think it was very funny means that if it was just a little bit punched up it
[00:41:52] could have been a lot better how do you feel Nate yeah that was what I felt which
[00:41:57] is we you and I talking Nate is like that's exactly how I feel no I was I was
[00:42:01] thinking really quickly about who I'm gonna have his MVP because I didn't pick
[00:42:05] real quick uh it's Bo and Yang
[00:42:08] I thought so see this is my problem yeah Bo and Yang had two I think funny sketches
[00:42:14] yeah and that's all I mean one that he helped right and create and it was hilarious
[00:42:18] it was sketch and then he was also the hooters thing it was great for me I
[00:42:21] think it's Chloe Feynman actually what about just really what about just meek
[00:42:24] though just meek was funny but he wasn't as funny or any I Chloe Feynman I picked
[00:42:29] because I think that she is kind of in a similar fashion that Shalamee
[00:42:34] uh paddled up with Pete David's yeah I saw them twice you know yeah I did feel
[00:42:39] like they had a good connection when they played those two pairs of characters
[00:42:41] here's the thing uh Pete Davis and went with Shalamee I felt like they were
[00:42:45] like those sketches were great because of the pairing yeah I don't believe
[00:42:50] that Sydney Sweeney and and um Chloe Feynman were great because they were
[00:42:54] together I think they were just together what what other than what else did
[00:43:00] Chloe Feynman really do that was the other one that she was in the makeup artist
[00:43:04] one yeah it's it was fine you didn't like makeup art though
[00:43:08] yeah I didn't like makeup art but but also like she wasn't like that to me
[00:43:12] is Bo and Yang or Andrew I wasn't blown away but that's why I went with
[00:43:15] and also she was just a bridesmaid in and and makeup artist like that was
[00:43:20] Sarah Sherman carrying a lot of the weight on that episode on that sketch
[00:43:23] or Heidi Gardner Heidi Gardner was seven sketches I go with them was in seven
[00:43:28] sketches for years and a ton I don't know if either of them really had a standout
[00:43:33] or breakout so we talk about that sometimes they they were freaking workhorses
[00:43:37] and that's a thing like when when somebody and we used to just last year even
[00:43:42] with Sarah Sherman and Bo and Yang because it's the most impactful it's the
[00:43:46] funniest it's like the most outlandish those two sketches that were in
[00:43:49] were fire but maybe we should be looking at the overall workload because
[00:43:53] that's really hard to do I don't know because some of them also like you know
[00:43:57] there's this episode I would not say James Austin Johnson did anything right
[00:43:59] yeah but he was in some sketches right no I'm not even considering him as
[00:44:05] that right but to me it's it Bo and Yang was the funniest but I think this
[00:44:09] mucs also was right there yeah how many was the smuix and you know 12 I'm gonna
[00:44:15] say I'm gonna guess for he was in he was in airbud he was in a big bench
[00:44:24] and he was in hooters but again some of those weren't major things right
[00:44:30] he was in the right table yeah I guess for he was in for yeah good call damn
[00:44:35] all right close my mind so I'm just really I'm gonna go with Bo and you I like
[00:44:42] it we agree to disagree I love it um and then also I'm gonna I'm gonna shout
[00:44:47] out to because we don't often talk about the music Casey Muscarrier's just
[00:44:51] freaking great if you didn't watch the music I saw headline that says she had a
[00:44:54] wardrobe malfunction oh I didn't see a wardrobe I thought I'll freaking
[00:44:58] what we watch I didn't see that but calm down no I didn't mean like that I
[00:45:02] meant like the article said uh Casey Musgraves upset about wardrobe
[00:45:08] malfunction on SNL like that's all I saw oh she she's got a freaking fantastic
[00:45:13] boys she's so much fun what was your favorite sketch name uh I'm gonna go with
[00:45:17] uh the Bowen sketch I thought that was my favorite scripts of the night
[00:45:20] Reverend yeah that was my favorite sketch too mine as well and honestly
[00:45:23] boonying is like because you say MVP and we all agree right in you give him
[00:45:29] MVP well because I talked myself out of it after I remember how many
[00:45:32] speeches it but the speech doesn't great though but he was great though but the
[00:45:36] idea is the sketch of the night is is boonying sketch and that does elevate
[00:45:41] him to like he deserves MVP for he also I think he he was the main writer for
[00:45:47] this I know you do give more credence to like who created it and you know
[00:45:52] you have that experience because you yeah by the way ladies gentlemen we can't
[00:45:55] do this show without me Laos he does all the research we were talking heads
[00:45:59] over here but Nate really does he finds out who writes the sketches ladies
[00:46:01] gentlemen he really does a great job thank you Nate we love you very much for
[00:46:05] that I can't I cannot do this without you so thank you buddy but yeah I do
[00:46:10] place some priorities into how many people help write sketches and these kind of
[00:46:14] things and if boon came up with the idea it's just creative I just think
[00:46:18] the sketch is brilliant so the wardrobe malfunction by the way was not what
[00:46:22] you think it is is I know all of the songs the clickbee headline never even read
[00:46:26] there was her ticket I watched it I did not see boonying put his hand over
[00:46:34] her nipple no she pissed on the floor oh my god whoa no she she had a hair clip
[00:46:39] that was still on the right to her hair that they used to keep her hair back so
[00:46:43] while they were doing makeup and it was oh they let that I'm a clip was still
[00:46:46] oh no that's not that's a reward but I hear
[00:46:50] so it wasn't even she was even mad she was just pointing out she like me
[00:46:54] but making fun of it but then that didn't seem like a person that'd be
[00:46:57] mad I'll tell you what you know what Yahoo says yeah
[00:47:01] freaking slash slash more drama function gets it though you know true
[00:47:04] it's true all right do we have any more episodes of SNL coming up we've done
[00:47:09] mother freaking brolin Josh Brolin Thanos from Avengers endgame
[00:47:13] for some reason we said that last week and Nate was like don't ruin it no I was fine
[00:47:18] with it was they don't ruin it oh he was brand is a don't ruin Josh Brolin how
[00:47:23] many times does Josh Brolin hosted can we see this fourth right now in Dune part two
[00:47:29] this might guess and I'm gonna say that he is only hosted twice he has hosted twice once
[00:47:35] this will be his third yeah October 18th 2008 uh I'm one off with Adele as musical guest
[00:47:41] and that bad one off uh cameo Alec Baldwin Tina Fey Sarah Payland uh oh that was the Sarah
[00:47:47] Payland episode where she came on uh he was the host and then uh 2012 with uh
[00:47:55] godee so he's hosted twice in cameo once no he was on that episode that Sarah
[00:48:02] Payland cameo done that famous episode that she came on during the election
[00:48:06] that year so this will be his third appearance on SNL third hosting
[00:48:11] but like some people do cameos but don't host yeah he is not done okay so
[00:48:15] this is his third appearance and they're almost like that you you when you say it like that though
[00:48:21] it's like implies that like like he's made a cameo well exactly that was my distinction
[00:48:27] because there are plenty of people that are famous that have just on cameos but still just
[00:48:31] say he's hosting for a third time and he did an impression when he was on in 2012 of azigian
[00:48:39] to white socks manager yeah wow okay I gotta look at that you know you don't see a ton of uh
[00:48:43] azigian you don't see a ton of host doing impressions when they're on that's true that's true
[00:48:48] well I hope he brings azigian's impression back better think he's the white hat it sucks uh
[00:48:53] they usually I just recently read that Josh Brolin was seriously considering like stopping acting
[00:49:00] before right before no country for old men came along he had already kind of accepted that
[00:49:04] he wasn't gonna be working full-time as an actor and was his full-time gig was basically being
[00:49:08] a day trader and then no country for old men came along it was he a day trader yeah he was a
[00:49:13] day trade like I was a day job at the time and he had already had some notable roles but it was no
[00:49:18] country for old men that like changed everything for him well I mean it was incredible yeah right uh
[00:49:24] but he's a he's a freaking gifted so I know we know this isn't go for yourself we're not gonna talk
[00:49:30] about this too much but I will say the number of I think men specifically that get roles
[00:49:37] in their 40s that make them who they are right women 10 in Hollywood tend to get famous
[00:49:43] younger because harder to be relevant in 40 every every Hollywood agent whatever every director
[00:49:48] wants the young hot woman but men are dime a dozen until they age into a very like authoritative
[00:49:54] type role Josh Brolin's a great example of that there are plenty here some 40 even didn't get what
[00:49:59] he was in uh uh american graffiti when he was what 30 yeah and then even after that he was working
[00:50:06] as a full-time carpenter before he got Star Wars yeah he was like 36 when he got I mean there
[00:50:12] there are a lot of dudes that just finally get it at whatever I was listening to smart list the
[00:50:18] other day and I think that um there was oh man I will cut this probably because I can't remember
[00:50:22] the actor but there was an actor that had been doing it for oh Mark Ruffalo Mark Ruffalo
[00:50:27] Ruffalo was on on smart list and he said that he was in LA working as a bar back slash waiter for
[00:50:34] 10 years 10 years 10 years and literally wrote a motorcycle to his auditions because he couldn't
[00:50:40] he couldn't afford a car he worked out it himself like he's well the roads constantly tell him give up
[00:50:45] you gotta stop yeah you gotta stop this far go home and he's like I made 200 bucks a month and my
[00:50:50] rent was 150 bucks a living for 10 years if anybody that story that I've heard he deserves it
[00:50:57] more than anybody because he's the one that stuck with it right that's crazy to me now and
[00:51:02] Josh Brawl and I think seems to be getting even better like oh yeah uh the cicada movies obviously
[00:51:11] he's in Deadpool is cable like he's Thanos and well of course Thanos but he no don't minimize
[00:51:17] Thanos because he actually freaking does know he's great Thanos yeah he's a really great in
[00:51:21] uh men in black three well we talked up we talked about that where uh yeah I just see his
[00:51:26] but we talked about that in in gofliches of where the the the the the better the villain the better
[00:51:32] the movie and so Josh Brawl and his Thanos is an incredible yeah I'm very interested what they do
[00:51:38] with him next week to see now that he's kind of aged into this you know where he is in Hollywood
[00:51:42] these days what does that look like for SNL I'm very curious I'm super excited I hope they have
[00:51:47] them working at hooters you know what I hope they do too have they announced any more hosts or no
[00:51:52] no not yet they're gonna finish up March and then uh they've because they they've been doing
[00:51:57] three episodes in a row and then they usually announce it so clearly the week after Josh Brawl
[00:52:02] there will be no one because they would have announced that I know they'll probably do they'll
[00:52:04] probably do two week break I think and then they'll finish up with an episode right at the end of
[00:52:08] March then go into April so at the end of March look for that March madness depends on when Easter is
[00:52:14] though because they might just like take the rest of March it's on Sunday yeah I don't know
[00:52:19] Nate is he's coming in
[00:52:22] hey Nate real quick without looking at your computer no I know it's right all I know is it is
[00:52:31] right at spring break in between the two different streams you know when so I think it's like
[00:52:38] I'm gonna check it out Jesus Jesus came out of the cave 31st of March Jesus came out of the cave
[00:52:42] and he was wearing that technical or dream coat and everybody goes wow you know what he's risen
[00:52:48] oh damn it saving times uh dear saving times why don't I get that joke
[00:52:52] Rizz Rizz Rizz another way okay you know what hey this has been fun well yeah thanks so much
[00:52:58] good I don't care that's a good joke no one doesn't really see this episode of GoFlix yourself
[00:53:07] I can't eat so much all right hey um we did we did the kind of evolve there into some GoFlix
[00:53:13] yeah sorry if you like that if you like that go fix yourself check out go go
[00:53:17] go fix yourself bottom I think it is go fix yourself bottom and if you know if you don't like

[00:53:46] 2 p.m sometimes I go get breakfast sometimes I get around put some hem sandwich you know I just
[00:53:50] gotta that's a euphemism idea I don't know I make ham sandwich so nice ham day
