In this episode of the Ten to One Podcast, hosts Brad Oman from Slashfilm.com, Nate Loucks, and Ben Konowitz wrap up their summer exploration of the comedic genius of The Lonely Island from Saturday Night Live. Since SNL is on its seasonal break, this dedicated trio has been revisiting the digital shorts that defined an era of humor, focusing on the final contributions from seasons 36 and 37. This episode marks the third and final installment in their special series dedicated to these groundbreaking shorts.
This week, Brad, Nate, and Ben get nostalgic as they analyze the last set of digital shorts from The Lonely Island team - Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer. They will break down each short's impact, creativity, and placement in the vast universe of SNL's digital content.
But that's not all - after revisiting over 100 digital shorts, the hosts face the daunting task of compiling their ultimate top-10 list. Which shorts will make the cut? Will "Lazy Sunday" reign supreme, or will "I'm On A Boat" sail away with the top spot? Or perhaps an underdog will emerge as a favorite. Expect plenty of debates, laughs, and a walk down memory lane as Brad, Nate, and Ben honor The Lonely Island's unparalleled contribution to SNL and comedy as a whole.
Don't miss out on this nostalgic journey filled with humor, insights, and the difficult decisions that come with ranking comedy gold.

[00:00:06] It's the Ten to One Podcast with your host, Brad Olman, featuring Ben Conowitz and Neblokes and Heroes The Podcast
[00:00:22] On the here's A Little Bit, You See That?
[00:00:24] A Little Bit of a Hangout There.
[00:00:25] There was a HURS!
[00:00:27] It's not really a hangout, it's more of like some times he...
[00:00:30] Don Porto, Like Just He Gets Into It
[00:00:32] You know, and so Like Today, Don Porto Was Feeling It
[00:00:35] I just feel like because it's been so long since we've had our two episodes of SNL, you're losing it
[00:00:40] No, it's mostly because when I do it Don Porto, channel himself through me and sometimes,
[00:00:45] He's feeling...
[00:00:46] Is it because this is a ... He's he's he's he's he's almost in October
[00:00:50] He's the boat. Yeah, he's doing like a little bit of like a haunted house who we do kind of thing
[00:00:55] So I get done parto
[00:00:58] Parto in the introduction
[00:01:00] Don't do that no no those two parts. Yeah, okay? Well sometimes you just got to say the limit
[00:01:05] This is time for you. It has been forever since we've done an episode
[00:01:08] I'd like to say that there's a good reason for that
[00:01:10] But you all know that that's not true. There's one person to blame
[00:01:16] And
[00:01:17] You talk about your punctuality and it's not Nate Lowax. Nate Lowax has been a loyal
[00:01:23] pervair
[00:01:24] Is that the right word sure say pervair for bear what of this podcast?
[00:01:28] No, I don't think yeah, I don't think that word. Pervair like patron right
[00:01:34] Really what is pervair pervair would be more like on the other side of
[00:01:39] It's like no it's like a person that the person who provides
[00:01:42] Yeah, well, it's a podcast but it's like a particular good like a pervair of jewel
[00:01:47] He gives you a patron would like in bark on a journey to arrive at the place
[00:01:52] So if you're a pervair of a podcast a per motor that'd be like a per motor of the podcast. I think Nate promotes the podcast
[00:01:59] If I don't know you would say
[00:02:01] Pervair on this establishment like the owner of the restaurant. I love the podcast
[00:02:04] Oh my god, and he
[00:02:06] He would never put this podcast in jeopardy. But you know someone who does constantly put this podcast in jeopardy by having just a complete
[00:02:15] Wacked out schedule
[00:02:17] his poor planning
[00:02:19] unhealthy
[00:02:21] Body
[00:02:36] That's why we haven't had an episode on my we're supposed to record last week, but he was like oh
[00:02:41] He does when he takes us he does call himself papa
[00:02:47] Yeah, he's really getting into that whole step dad vibe
[00:02:50] Because I call myself Papa. Yeah, I'm doing that for years
[00:02:53] I mean technically I love a big pop of you. I love a weird call me big pop of
[00:02:58] That's for different reasons anyway. This is the 10 to one podcast
[00:03:01] This is a Saturday Night Live podcast where we typically review and recap new episodes of Saturday Night Live
[00:03:07] But since the show is still on hiatus we've been having our own fun by going through the movies of Saturday Night Live and
[00:03:14] In recent episodes we have been watching and ranking every single
[00:03:19] SNL digital short created by the lonely island and it's been a lot of fun
[00:03:24] But it's also been a lot of work and sometimes hard work is fun and sometimes fun can be hard work
[00:03:29] Right that down
[00:03:32] Wow
[00:03:32] That down kids, but this is the third and final episode of our SNL digital short banana
[00:03:38] Where we watched the final wave of SNL digital shorts and we have one more
[00:03:44] Top 10 of that wave to talk about and then when we're done with that
[00:03:48] We will have each have our own final top 10 of all of the SNL digital shorts
[00:03:55] We're gonna figure out which ones where are favorites across the board
[00:04:00] So I know you're excited and I'm excited and late excited
[00:04:04] Ben, I don't know I'm very excited. Okay, Ben's excited. That's I was worried
[00:04:08] I didn't I didn't know he lately he's been I'm super excited okay. I'm glad we're all in the same I'm
[00:04:14] Super excited
[00:04:16] Before we get into that I do want to mention something that else we were excited about and Ben kind of spoiled this last week
[00:04:23] But if you don't listen to our
[00:04:26] impromptu radio show any of people that don't maybe you didn't submit should we just see a lot
[00:04:31] You guys I didn't listen to that
[00:04:33] Okay, well, so here's what we're gonna tease it then because if you're talking about three people maybe that's maybe that's fair
[00:04:40] All right, so if you didn't listen to the surprise episode of Ben Bradden Beyond which was available on
[00:04:45] W-iams and streamed on Facebook and what's most of our listeners
[00:04:49] Listen to people like our radio show
[00:04:51] They liked it when it was on and they were surprised by our turn to where we are in north of the year, but it's streamed on Facebook
[00:04:59] That ever listeners are like well Ben would promote it all the time on his phone episode sucks
[00:05:06] Let's get back a track right now
[00:05:08] We're gonna tease something that Ben and I are doing this week that is going to be a lot of fun for this podcast here in the near future
[00:05:15] And we'll probably post about that a little bit sometime this week. Once we're actually experiencing
[00:05:19] What's all the secrecy?
[00:05:21] Yeah, I don't know what you're doing. It's just right about what we talked about teasing it and then reveal you later
[00:05:25] You talked about this
[00:05:27] Like you want to spoil it? No, I'm not saying
[00:05:30] Like maybe you had an incident that I was gonna say what do you want to say what it is?
[00:05:37] What you're technically you were invited but you were just like oh, I can't go on with our
[00:05:40] I mean
[00:05:41] I mean pity it right, but yeah, I guess I'll say this that the
[00:05:47] There's a movie coming out yes soon. Yeah, that has to deal with
[00:05:51] Yeah, yeah that our podcast and Brad Ferrell for slash show of calm
[00:05:57] Had been invited to actually the premiere and
[00:06:01] This film is going to be possibly the greatest film I've ever made
[00:06:06] Some summer saying summer saying
[00:06:09] And I will not be able to be there. I got a crazy busy week
[00:06:12] But two of the three of us will be in Toronto
[00:06:15] Yes, seeing what film Saturday night Ben and I are going up to the premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival for Saturday night where
[00:06:23] Director Jason right men and his cast will be in attendance
[00:06:27] Really doing like a Q&A thing after the movie premieres
[00:06:31] I'll be conducting some interviews on behalf of
[00:06:33] I'll be playing pinball while he does so I have a question about this because Brad
[00:06:38] If our listeners you probably know Brad is an editor at slash film. He gets all kinds of famous people interview
[00:06:44] Yeah, you're probably wondering I asked them a solid time who's the most beautiful person he's every interview to him is Chris himself
[00:06:50] So however, you're going to interview these people. Yes, and are you gonna let Ben sit in on the interviews? No
[00:06:58] Why no, I'll be playing pinball because I don't care at all
[00:07:00] It's not what when you care about the interview without it. Careful. He was invited
[00:07:03] I can I can these are gonna be the same questions
[00:07:08] Everybody want to meet you get your little little some a bit
[00:07:11] Did you have fun with the caroust seems like a fun ensemble? Okay, what was the biggest challenge interviews do you watch yours?
[00:07:19] I don't ever do that Jason if you could steal a smooch from any Hollywood
[00:07:24] Who's the biggest prankster on set? What are you Jimmy?
[00:07:29] Let me ask you a question about making the movie
[00:07:34] Jason you've been known to like Steven Spielberg films
[00:07:39] Jason why what did you make one of the coolest musters movies bad
[00:07:43] Am I right man
[00:07:46] But yeah, so I'll be talking Jason right man. I'll be talking to Gil Keenan
[00:07:50] We're talking to Gabriel a bell who's playing Lord Michael's Rachel Senate who's playing Rosie Schuster and
[00:07:56] Dylan O'Brien who is playing Dan Akroyd in the movie
[00:07:59] So I will be sure to direct you guys to that once those interviews are live on slash film do you guys think I don't like about Dan Akroyd?
[00:08:07] Wow
[00:08:08] Here we come with a hot take. I don't like the y in between
[00:08:11] A and the K well, you know a lot of people don't because they always forget it. Yeah, it's just I know there's a y in there
[00:08:16] And there's so many people think it's a ck
[00:08:19] I know there's a void. I know there's a y
[00:08:27] This is a bad podcast. Yeah, now you're back. It's not no this is actually we're back to being bad again
[00:08:33] What do you mean you people love spelling yours?
[00:08:36] People at best but ask me what is it about Dan Akroyd?
[00:08:40] You don't like and I just want to be with you. No, that's why I don't like there's that secret wine is like one of the words are weird for you
[00:08:47] Privilege the word privilege well that seems like you're on a high horse now
[00:08:51] Wow privilege is hard for me to spell. Hey, you know, you know my least favorite word is Nate can't
[00:08:57] Every time
[00:08:58] Every release favorite word, Ben every time the teacher would come up to you and watch you write the word privilege
[00:09:04] She would say check your privilege. It's not spelled right
[00:09:11] Wait, what rich Nate loves can for a tier?
[00:09:15] Good point spell and privilege roll. Yeah, where's that cement?
[00:09:18] You're very very purposely moving past
[00:09:21] Brad's joke about can't okay. Yeah
[00:09:25] There was a stupid answer to I gave what dumb question
[00:09:30] Hey guys, you know what the worst word in the English language is not what I brought it is. Hey, you know what the worst word in the English language is can't
[00:09:39] But I have her here from my team. I stop him right there
[00:09:42] I say listen mother fuckers
[00:09:46] Listen we don't say that here. Oh, you can't do this job. Well, I can't pay you
[00:09:52] I was interviewed by my good friend Nate likes we don't need to hear the story surprise me with a question that I didn't have an answer to
[00:09:59] And I just said can't as the word and I don't like the most I should have said moist because I really don't like that
[00:10:04] Where I don't like the way it's out moist. It just comes off from moist. I had some moist
[00:10:11] muffins the other day
[00:10:12] You did
[00:10:15] She's from trader Joe's they were delicious. Okay. This is just gonna off the rails
[00:10:19] Can we talk about the shorts the third the boys shorts?
[00:10:24] The third batch of shorts that we watched the third batch of shorts we watched is what will talk about
[00:10:29] 35 or 36 oh season's 36 and 37 and we watched 30 in a couple of years
[00:10:35] Yeah, there was some that after Andy Sandberg was no longer a cast member and
[00:10:40] Achieve and you were my head also moved on before that
[00:10:43] Looney Island still came back together to do some shorts sometimes when Andy hosted
[00:10:47] Sometimes when certain people came back to host and they wanted to do one
[00:10:51] And so there were some bigger shorts that debuted after the little man who were officially done at S&L basically
[00:10:59] And ready these have been a little bit difficult especially when there's a lot so there's typically
[00:11:04] In two seasons we've noticed there's five that are great
[00:11:09] There's another five that are pretty good and
[00:11:12] Then there's 20 that are mid level and then there's another five or 10 that are bad. Yeah, right?
[00:11:18] So it's hard to kind of get that middle
[00:11:23] Ranking I think we've done a pretty good job because we don't tell each other typically where we rank things that until we rank them
[00:11:29] Keeping them almost roughly the same. I've actually been surprised at how similar we've been
[00:11:34] But this one this these these these two seasons
[00:11:38] I'm not sure what actually be the same as the first two episodes because I think we're gonna have a little more diversity
[00:11:45] So we'll see though
[00:11:47] Well, make you say that
[00:11:50] Because I didn't
[00:11:53] I was you know there's usually five great ones five good ones
[00:11:57] I'm not sure if there were five great ones and five good ones in this batch and so
[00:12:02] And if you did think that then I didn't and so
[00:12:12] So I'm not gonna I
[00:12:14] Yeah, we'll see. Well, let's talk about the bottom of the barrel first
[00:12:19] What is what is your guys' worst?
[00:12:22] S and other little short out of this bit I had afros
[00:12:26] That was your worst one. I didn't really like it. Okay
[00:12:29] My was just an enormous afro shared by
[00:12:34] Who I can't remember Chris and wig they're just in that 70 style clothing
[00:12:38] Yep, it's just the depending on the afro just as big or bigger yeah
[00:12:41] Yeah, I was kudos to the effect sure kudos to the facts well one not one laugh
[00:12:46] I but I did not laugh either there there was there was the joke wasn't there other than it's a comically big wig
[00:12:52] That was your bottom of the barrel too nope. No my not mine was not the bottom either mine was
[00:12:57] Relaxion relaxation therapy same Nate
[00:13:00] Andy Samberg is the subject of a bizarre therapy session
[00:13:05] Conducted by his psychiatrist James Jane Lynch. I was the Jane see more that would be interesting. Dr. Kuey Mevesamon
[00:13:15] Who
[00:13:16] Kind of puts herself into his subconscious
[00:13:18] It just it wasn't funny wasn't funny at all and it and it felt like it could have been funny at some level
[00:13:25] Like I liked the idea of a subconscious play for therapy like there's humor potentially in there
[00:13:32] This did not hit any of those yes
[00:13:34] It just was not funny afros was second to last for me. That was your last I just said
[00:13:39] Relaxed oh you guys both. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was in the bottom fight for me for sure. Yep
[00:13:43] It wasn't good and then another one for me the next one third up from bottom. What was that? I had that as second to last
[00:13:50] Yes, that was that was third to last for me
[00:13:52] So yeah, we all hated that one to not like it that was that was having one of a competition of model UN
[00:13:58] Team present their thoughts on world history to the generally general sense of what you said
[00:14:03] But going like the Holocaust what was that yep
[00:14:06] Yeah, and arcade fire was in it. It's almost like it was trying to be one of like low in the island
[00:14:13] Signature musical bits and it just really didn't have the meat to like really push it to being funny
[00:14:18] Like you want you want kids you want the middle schoolers in the high schoolers the next day to be at school being like what was that?
[00:14:25] You know like in a way that like
[00:14:28] mimics the tone of the sketch it did not it was not funny
[00:14:33] So why would he ever say it it didn't become a catchphrase not good. Yeah
[00:14:37] I also had convoluted Jerry that was my next. That was how was that my fourth to last yeah, okay
[00:14:42] We're in sync. This is why we're not just friends, but lovers and family
[00:14:47] Well, maybe not both family
[00:14:51] Cavalute of Jerry was a commercial for a CD collection featuring Andy Sandberg playing Cavalute of Jerry singer whose lyrics are worthy in confusing
[00:15:00] That's it. It's just bad and that actually that is as funny as the sketch. Yeah. Yeah
[00:15:05] It was like songs like
[00:15:08] Quit not being my lover, right? Like the humor. Yeah
[00:15:12] Just just wordplay
[00:15:14] That's it. No, no, we're saying it though. It's got a cover
[00:15:18] Okay, sometimes there are times when you describe the sketch and sometimes you're in your scribe
[00:15:23] Like I see talking about a sketch like that how it could be funny
[00:15:27] I do imagine them
[00:15:29] I know that was funny, but like sometimes yeah, yeah, be like that's something
[00:15:34] Guys the next one for me is going to maybe shock you
[00:15:38] Because you know how much I love laser cats laser cats are is maybe
[00:15:45] Not even the single
[00:15:47] greatest
[00:15:49] Digital short like
[00:15:52] 7-peat
[00:15:54] 7-peat. It's only 7-peat
[00:15:57] But maybe one of the grays
[00:16:00] Film
[00:16:02] Step three
[00:16:03] Are you any stroke but yeah, you are trying to figure
[00:16:05] Steering off into the distance what's the word pre-tapin films
[00:16:11] Heptology
[00:16:12] I got a call a doctor septa right septa would be seven. No, isn't he up seven?
[00:16:19] Yeah, no, it actually got his six
[00:16:21] Right, so and I don't know what's up
[00:16:23] It's I don't either but I put laser cats six the musical septa double
[00:16:28] Yeah
[00:16:29] Down in like 30 one 32 like that was that was the septalogy
[00:16:35] It was awful laser cats six the musical where did you guys put it? It's awful. I added pretty low. Yeah, it's Heptagon
[00:16:41] I have to gun yeah, so it's yeah
[00:16:44] It's how oh it's actually it's Heptagon and septicod
[00:16:47] Yeah, yeah, I'll tell you what you're gonna call it
[00:16:50] We're all right
[00:16:51] But Elton John was the villain
[00:16:54] Color Carmelo Anthony plays a security guard
[00:16:59] They do parodies of like cats and yeah, this was not either man. This was not that low for me. Oh, this was awful. There's no
[00:17:06] No, I disagree Ben where did you have it? It was pretty low for me
[00:17:10] I had it just above
[00:17:11] Yeah, it was number seven
[00:17:14] Low for me. Oh, I say seven two
[00:17:16] You know, no, no, I have I had it up higher. I had a rep by bugger man
[00:17:20] No, bugger man is actually after convoluted Jerry for me
[00:17:23] So we don't have to go through all these those are some of the bad ones. Yeah
[00:17:27] I want to so you have a thing. I felt like it picked up a little bit with rescue dogs 3D
[00:17:31] But you guys I don't think likes rescue dogs 3D as much as I was a good dog 3D app was number 26 for me
[00:17:38] Actually, I had it decently higher than that. I had it like a 14
[00:17:40] Yeah, I think that app basically for me where I have real quick
[00:17:45] We watched rescue dogs 3D and that was like one of that was one of the the early ones
[00:17:50] The first one right wasn't the first watch. I can't remember it but it was in the first five or so and we were like wow that's
[00:17:57] Okay, see 36 is bugger man than rescue dogs 3D. Okay, so we watched it early on
[00:18:02] I'm like well, that's gonna be an autopter
[00:18:03] Ha ha, but then I we just kept going back to it like okay
[00:18:06] Well, that wasn't better than rescue dogs 3D
[00:18:09] No, it was that was better than rescue and you guys were giving me shit because we were we rented
[00:18:12] I did an edible and I was pretty giggly for the first half of this
[00:18:16] I can trust you at all but rescue dogs 3D was very funny and I was laughing a good amount at it
[00:18:22] And it wasn't just because the adabos because it was funny
[00:18:23] No, you're you're you're you're correct
[00:18:27] It's a funny bit
[00:18:29] Because yeah, because after that once I start getting to the middle basically
[00:18:31] That's when I get into stuff like seducing women through chess
[00:18:35] Yeah, which was like a PSA like instructional video of like how to seduce women by what you know playing chess and making you seem like a cool
[00:18:42] That was really low right no, that's not really that's that that's at 25 for me. Well, that's 30 for me. Yeah, that's pretty low for me too
[00:18:48] Oh, okay, no, because I I
[00:18:50] Basically I
[00:18:52] Wish it would rain was like the last one where I thought that wasn't very good
[00:18:56] Yeah, like I I wish it would rain the V-neck. It's 30 24 for me the V-neck stuff
[00:19:02] V-neck's a little higher for me best friends
[00:19:05] Best friends is low best friends is 19 for me which ones to explain V-neck's in best friends
[00:19:10] Ben Stiller it was in V-neck's it was a
[00:19:14] I like they had like a model run down show off of like the different styles of V-neck's a little dueling and then the V keeps getting deeper
[00:19:21] And then the V turns into a double V and then they do like a a reverse or where it's just the just the V of the neck
[00:19:28] Right no shirt whatsoever. It was clever
[00:19:31] It was amazing that was number 7 for me. Yeah, there was number 20 for me so maybe you're wrong
[00:19:36] Maybe I'm right the middle is where we get in stuff that's why I did have laser cat six at 22
[00:19:42] And then I have stuff like an interview with Drake
[00:19:44] Which I thought was decent as I have number 12 for that at 15. Oh, it's isn't 19 for me
[00:19:50] Yeah, so you thought that was pretty good. Well, I interview with Drake seems pretty self-explanatory, but what's the the bit with that one night
[00:19:58] Antique dex has several short and increasingly bizarre interviews with actor singer Drake each segment follows a very literal theme
[00:20:05] Describe by a title card announced by Don Partos, so you know an interview with Drake about whatever
[00:20:12] That appears on screen before interview with Drake. Yeah, and so
[00:20:17] And then it's the the
[00:20:20] Racist interview
[00:20:21] Which was cut short before any could say anything is kind of the height of that
[00:20:26] Very funny
[00:20:27] So yeah, there there was good escalation in that what about
[00:20:31] What did you guys do with when will the base drop?
[00:20:35] That's that is that one's a little higher for me
[00:20:38] I feel like that's when I started that that's getting into the sketches where I was starting to figure out what was it gonna end up in the top 10 because that one came pretty
[00:20:46] That was 14 for me. That was that was
[00:20:47] Looks like that was getting higher for me 13 for me. So I think for me where it's start the the ones that I started really enjoying a good amount
[00:20:56] Or like I would they were considered I was trying to bouncing them around as far as ranking see which ones are close to top 10
[00:21:03] Was the hundredth digital short was when I started feeling like
[00:21:08] That's that for me. That's the level where like everything above that is really good
[00:21:12] That's 18 for me, but only because it just it's that creating something new. It's just kind of of course, but I
[00:21:18] By still I don't think it takes away
[00:21:19] I think it takes away the thing from how fun it is he loves nostalgia
[00:21:22] No, I get that and it's well done
[00:21:24] It is a well-known if it was shitty you know if it felt like they phoned it in then I wouldn't be a fan
[00:21:28] But I felt like they did a good job with it. Okay. What about this one?
[00:21:31] Because I actually really like this one
[00:21:33] Zach looks for a new assistant. Do we talk about it? Oh, yeah, no, no, that was my number. Was that a top 10 for you?
[00:21:39] That's not 10 for me. That's 11 for me. Yeah, I
[00:21:42] I particularly really like stumbled in what that's number 9 for me. Oh
[00:21:46] Interesting stumble in a lot. It went it went down a little lower to me to
[00:21:50] To explain split in stubborn bread so stumble in is it's a musical sketch, but it's a silly musical sketch where Andy Samberg is a guy who is
[00:22:03] Rambling lyrics describing what he's stumbling near and through. It's number eight for me. I love wow
[00:22:08] I loved this one my love so mine just outside the top 10 or at a 12 so it's but like for me
[00:22:15] One of the things that I thought of later and this was like a few sketches after we watched this one and I kept thinking about it
[00:22:21] Is if you go watch the sketch there's at least two shots
[00:22:24] Where it's so perfectly timed between the audio and what they shot that what they had to execute visually
[00:22:32] Had to be incredibly well timed especially one of the final shots where Andy stumbles past a bunch of things in a row
[00:22:40] Down the hallway and they have them all lined up, but like the song moved so fast that you have to time it so
[00:22:47] meticulously and they did such a good job. That's where I gave it a little higher because the execution of it the creativity of it
[00:22:53] Yeah, the songs great. It could have been cheaper like it could have been one of the like I threw it on the ground kind of things
[00:22:58] Like it's their their old school gorilla stomethin, but it has some production value to it and they did a really good job
[00:23:04] Or you're grabbing everything all right. Let's give it to some of the top 10 then some of the things that you really liked in this these two seasons that we did
[00:23:12] What did you guys have for your number 10 my number 10 was weakened at mr. Bernard's
[00:23:18] I think it's party mr. Bernard's I'm gonna say we get it Bernie's two
[00:23:22] I had that at 22 really yeah, I thought it was fine. I love it
[00:23:29] Just the the reveal almost immediately oh my god, he's dead. It really made me laugh
[00:23:34] Yeah, yeah, I think I should probably be higher on my list now
[00:23:37] I think about it, but I don't think it would be top 10, but it was just so funny
[00:23:41] I don't know it just that one really just hit me in the fields it was just outside of my top 10 for me my my top 10
[00:23:47] I went with the lazy Sunday too
[00:23:51] Okay
[00:23:54] It's why it's you know, I think this one could have easily like fallen by the wayside and not been great because like you're trying to
[00:24:02] You know replicate what was basically the digital short that sent them into like overdrive
[00:24:06] But they really did do a good job of doing a follow-up. That was worth it. You know
[00:24:10] It wasn't it wasn't cheap it wasn't lazy
[00:24:14] They didn't phone it in you know, it was it was a good follow-up to it and I liked seeing them
[00:24:19] Increased the production quality do a lazy Sunday that had a look that was on par with like their proper music videos
[00:24:26] It kind of felt like a cool HD Redux of that concept in a fun way
[00:24:31] There's it was interesting to you know having this is their podcast about these lazy Sunday on the first one
[00:24:38] The dancing the weird dancing in between the brakes was something that was
[00:24:44] Who are you for that I forget?
[00:24:45] I don't think it was Lauren but it was one of the one of the producers said you got to put these like oh
[00:24:52] Yeah, it was I thought it was hey. It was it was it was hey, and they didn't think it was
[00:24:56] Yeah, you're gonna want to put these in here for like like to take a beat yep and they took to break up the rap a little bit
[00:25:03] So people can think so think people can process yeah, but then when I watched a second one
[00:25:07] I thought oh it became part right it certainly became part of the the rhythm of the the sketch
[00:25:12] We're through the night
[00:25:14] He feel the beat of the minute. That's a different song
[00:25:19] Number 10 was I just had sex
[00:25:22] Wow that was your number 10 wow holy shit bro you need a more sex yeah
[00:25:28] For me, I just had sex
[00:25:31] And I felt so well applied to sing with me
[00:25:40] My star's a
[00:25:42] Conn is the bigger name come on
[00:25:45] And John Mac and real yeah, I mean this is obviously
[00:25:48] I just had sex is an all-timeer, but that's why it's not so low for me. Yeah, no
[00:25:52] It's yes, yes, top five for me for this one yeah, absolutely
[00:25:56] My number nine is Zach looks for a new assistant
[00:25:59] I
[00:26:00] I like this one actually even more than the others Zach out for an eggast one because man the kids
[00:26:04] They got for this one were hilarious and adorable like they were perfect at having like a conversation with Zach and making it
[00:26:11] Elevating it so wasn't just Zach being silly kids absolutely they were just as much a part of why it was funny
[00:26:18] Yeah, if not more I agree with you on that this good number nine for me yellow
[00:26:24] It was stumbling for me. Okay, all right that makes sense yellow. It's a little bit higher for me
[00:26:30] Like like more towards the number one no
[00:26:33] That's really where is you all over you?
[00:26:36] That's it's more towards the number one really wow. I don't think yellow is that strong
[00:26:39] I like to see we're gonna talk about that the the catcher the song the more likely
[00:26:46] I love it. I think it's a catchy song
[00:26:50] For me, I think it sounds like yellow is the iron so far away of better
[00:26:56] Maybe that's why I like it so much because that's why I say that
[00:27:02] What's what's your number eight Nate stumbling stumbling is number eight okay? Yeah, what's your number eight shy
[00:27:09] shy Ronnie too really yeah interesting
[00:27:11] That one you know quite it didn't quite crack the top ten for me. Oh, it is for me
[00:27:15] I think it's better than first I'm running oh it's a hundred percent but the first I Ronnie
[00:27:19] That's yeah, it was a great no, no, it's it's good
[00:27:24] It's close
[00:27:25] It was close
[00:27:28] All right, oh
[00:27:29] Be embarrassed who was close what was your number eight is three way parentheses the golden rule
[00:27:35] Higher than that for sure
[00:27:37] Yeah, no, I just don't love three way. I think it's pretty good, but my number seven is yellow
[00:27:43] Okay, my number seven is also yellow my number seven is
[00:27:47] Wait, you I thought you just said that you didn't have you said no, no, no
[00:27:50] I said I said yellow
[00:27:51] No, she was right he doesn't know when I said what what what's the number one?
[00:27:55] I said no, well, sorry, it's more towards the bottom. Sorry when you said more towards number one
[00:27:59] I thought you meant like high on the list
[00:28:01] But yeah, but it was like the next one
[00:28:05] So minus shy Ronnie to running Clyde. Yeah six
[00:28:10] Find this girl the bin Laden song
[00:28:14] Kind of for real things about hooking up with a girl who used the assassination of Osawa bin Laden as an example of the kind of sex you wanted to have
[00:28:22] Is that new top 10 no and there's a reason for that
[00:28:26] Honestly, I think that I prefer the version that's in pop star and it just doesn't work as well for me in SNL digital short form
[00:28:34] I prefer seeing it performed in pop star as it is in the movie especially because it's not bleep
[00:28:41] My was p-we
[00:28:43] Like the p-we one p-we side for me
[00:28:47] Okay
[00:28:50] Number six
[00:28:51] That's what I said. I know six for me is laser cat seven
[00:28:55] Didn't make the company?
[00:28:57] Nate does there a laser cats in our future for you or did you put all laser cats outside of the top 10?
[00:29:02] All laser cats is outside of the top 10 whoa see for me
[00:29:06] Laser cat seven was like I can't believe we ended up here
[00:29:10] It's even fun to spill burger
[00:29:12] No cuz but because we get it we get it
[00:29:14] Granted before that we did have James Cameron's laser cats which I think was also very good
[00:29:17] But there's something about spielberg's appearance because he's not just in
[00:29:21] The the bookends. He also like appears in the actual laser cats with a
[00:29:26] Love Steve's juror, but I also just love how playful he is in it like like he's he's got a different energy than camera
[00:29:32] Does he's more he's more fun in in this version of laser cats
[00:29:35] It makes our top 10 okay, I'm sorry this there's a go-of-the-exercise. We'll know that Brad has a
[00:29:40] School girl crush yeah on on Steven Spielberg it is his idol his hero
[00:29:47] I call him Uncle Steve his muse so
[00:29:51] What can I say?
[00:29:53] Laser cats number six
[00:29:55] Okay, let's get seven at number six. What's your number five? No, what's Nate? Did you say your number six?
[00:29:59] Yeah friends cool. Okay. Uh my number five
[00:30:03] Is Andy and P we's big adventure
[00:30:05] Yeah, that was my door six. I know mine's higher because I appreciate it at more and I like the art of comedy
[00:30:10] How about you buddy? What's your number five check spell? Whoa
[00:30:15] That's way too high of the last body you mean too low on the list
[00:30:19] Whatever, it's not it needs to be closer to whatever it means two different things
[00:30:24] You don't even know what it said when I said is it closer to number one and you said no no
[00:30:28] No, no, no, no, no, you said wasn't close to number one. No, I didn't yeah you did
[00:30:31] No, I did it closer and you know that but it wasn't close remember. I told you guys
[00:30:35] I didn't think my time was gonna be similar to your guys
[00:30:37] I just didn't feel like I didn't know that was me wrong though
[00:30:40] My five was Natalie's rap that almost feels like a patrient you mean Natalie's rap too
[00:30:46] Exactly
[00:30:47] It was the only Natalie's rap on this section right? But like if you say jaws in a ranking of jaws
[00:30:53] When was he wouldn't just say jaws again? You say jaws the revenge I would if we if jaws the
[00:30:59] Original was not on the list of maybe somebody's listening to this message and this message
[00:31:03] This podcast and they don't know that we haven't talked about the other Natalie
[00:31:07] We're just leaving this is a voicemail for people
[00:31:10] So anyway, Bob you be called back. Why do I have an hour long voicemail with three different people on this is the 42nd one
[00:31:18] They're actually like this is a man normally do like a show
[00:31:23] You start leaving long-pranked voicemails as a pod
[00:31:26] Do you
[00:31:28] Right number it takes for listening to the show
[00:31:33] Number four
[00:31:34] For me was the creep
[00:31:39] Naked creep is great. Nate number four for me is Natalie's rap to you the creep is great
[00:31:43] Can we talk about the creep you guys in like the creep at all? No, no, that's not why I'm saying one
[00:31:47] Four is three way for me. Okay
[00:31:50] That's it's a little higher than it should be but all right
[00:31:53] We were talked about how basically like yellow was the iranso far and so three way
[00:31:56] I feel like you also have a more refined its for him because you just like music. You know through it was great
[00:32:01] It's not three was great. It's not as good as my mother's lover or through it. It's okay
[00:32:06] One ten
[00:32:08] I've got creep is my number three
[00:32:11] Oh, Nate and you had it as your number four. What do you have it as? Okay. Well my number three is I just head sex
[00:32:17] All right, so yeah, we're getting into the nitty gritty here. We're gonna start
[00:32:19] The creep is I think creep is appropriate at number three and he thinks it's appropriate number four
[00:32:23] I don't disagree with that here's the thing. I think it's on the gym
[00:32:26] You can argue number two
[00:32:27] It's a great
[00:32:29] The creep is at number two for me, and the creep is at number two because
[00:32:33] Two three four. It's no no the creep deserves to be I just had sex is number two for me but that's wrong
[00:32:40] No, you're what off? I know I want it
[00:32:42] I want to give a special shout out to the creep though because one of the things that I realized when we were watching it this third time because I love the creep forever
[00:32:49] But the creep unlike most of their other music videos is the only music video that they did
[00:32:55] Where they're not emulating a like a specific song style and it's as early and they're not trying to like
[00:33:02] Parity a music video style. It's like fully their own thing. They're taking in the vibe
[00:33:07] That was of something weird established by John Waters
[00:33:10] They've turned it into this original fake dance and they have this full on original music video that has this like
[00:33:18] 1950s like variety show vibe and then the song by itself is already good with like the the moves and like the weird story and like evolution of the trio
[00:33:28] But then do you not know that this is an homage to a Nicki Minaj song?
[00:33:33] Is that true? Yeah
[00:33:35] Called cheap
[00:33:37] Is that are you being did series right now? No, I made that up
[00:33:42] Motherfucker look on your face. I was like I was like wow. I've never heard of this
[00:33:46] This is that Brad looks to be and I look at Brad like you have it. You should be embarrassed
[00:33:50] No, you're like was like you didn't know either
[00:33:53] You fuck here. That was beautiful
[00:33:56] What did you say the song was called cheap cheap? Oh, okay
[00:33:59] I get to your app and about someone being cheap
[00:34:01] But no, so but so you mentioned Nicki Minaj for your whole point was boy
[00:34:06] That's it would have been it would have totally been so great, but no, but for me though
[00:34:10] You mentioned Nicki Minaj for me that's when the creep takes a whole other turn because her verse in the creep
[00:34:15] Fucking rules and the song like it's like this huge boost and it makes it even better. It's so fucking good
[00:34:21] It's okay
[00:34:22] That is good. I had sex, but that's okay. No, but it it also is not as good as what is the number one on both mine and Benzless because
[00:34:28] We know we're talking about sex pair. Yeah, Jack Sparrow is the best digital short this like out of this batch like undoubtedly man
[00:34:35] How I don't like what Jack Sparrow so low
[00:34:38] Like Michael Bowen
[00:34:40] You don't even have to like Michael Bowen. That's kind of the point of the of the thing is like it's easy and funny because it's Michael Bowen
[00:34:46] Now it's it's fine. It's good. It's number five that's that five. That's good. Oh now back to the good part
[00:34:53] Now the drop three or two is my number three
[00:34:58] Okay, that's fine
[00:34:59] What your your your three to one date?
[00:35:02] All right my top three is is
[00:35:04] Let's just say the the top three okay. Oh
[00:35:08] Number three is Natalie's rep two number two is Andy and Pewies night out
[00:35:13] Number one is three way the gold rule. I like that one. I don't know why you guys don't like them when why don't you like three
[00:35:18] Number four for me okay
[00:35:20] All right creeps number three at sex number two and then Jack Sparrow's the moon. Yeah, so Ben and I have the exact same top three
[00:35:25] But with the two and three reverse and one same on top
[00:35:29] Why do you guys like Jack Sparrow so much commit to me? Commence me. It's a thing that we need to actually yeah
[00:35:34] I mean it's first of all the songs very good. It's a banger of a song
[00:35:37] It's a great bit to begin with but then the escalation is
[00:35:42] Funny because Michael Bowen starts talking about other movies and seeing the song with like describing other movies that he likes
[00:35:48] Seeing Michael Bowen dressed up as those characters
[00:35:51] Being game to do all that yeah, I just like seeing him do Scarface is fucking amazing
[00:35:58] Okay, I'm reloaded like seeing Michael Bowen do that is hilarious
[00:36:03] Yeah, maybe I think you guys just like Michael Bowen more than I know
[00:36:07] I don't though. That's the thing. It's like I know I could give two shit about Michael Bowen music
[00:36:10] No, you do and let's Michael Bowen is seeing the theme from the Disney three-mesque tiers with key for Southern Alder Platten Charlie Sheen
[00:36:18] I don't care about Michael cool
[00:36:20] Yeah, Crystal's on of course. Please their team
[00:36:22] Not one of the three musketeers. Yeah, but you know leaving him out of the ensemble
[00:36:26] Casus really a slap in his face and he deserves better than that. You know it does he though? Yes. I don't know that's true
[00:36:32] Anyway, but no, that's why Jack's pair is yeah, he is number one. Yeah, I just can't I don't even know why
[00:36:39] What what are you talking about
[00:36:43] You don't want to defend yourself
[00:36:44] No, I don't know. No way would have to defend myself for objective truth
[00:36:49] The truth is what the truth is also Michael Bowen then saying on that three musketeers song
[00:36:55] Sting
[00:36:56] Brian Adams and Rod's oh yeah, that was a great one
[00:37:00] Michael Bowen has a voice that he would have been the fourth one. He would have been the Darktone
[00:37:02] He would have been the Chris of that's beyond all through those guys are better than Michael Bowen
[00:37:08] I mean sure
[00:37:10] No, first sure
[00:37:12] For sure
[00:37:14] Sugar
[00:37:16] Jack's spirit the best one
[00:37:18] Yeah, that's great. All right, okay, so without further do guys
[00:37:21] Well, you're really barely the lead here this podcast
[00:37:24] This specific episode was it's really all leading up to this
[00:37:28] It's the the top ten of all of the digital shorts all of them all the week now. I made a top ten and then I also did my
[00:37:38] I like to point out that our old mentioned Ben currently has four note pads in front of me
[00:37:43] Yeah, and I think it's because he lost each note pad after the episodes that we watched the shorts
[00:37:50] So he had three for each watch session and then a fourth for his final time. No, and here's why oh
[00:37:57] I
[00:37:57] There's a worst story
[00:37:59] I wanted to be able to look at all of the lists right so I wanted to just make sure they're all in different notebooks
[00:38:04] So I didn't have to keep flipping pages between them yeah, and I don't lose pieces of paper because I'd lose them
[00:38:08] To shame you didn't have some kind of technology that I made it easy to jump back and forth between lists instead of you know
[00:38:13] Yeah, okay, it's right. What do you mean? It's right in front of me
[00:38:16] You look like you're in the Pelican brief, but like the saddest version of the Pelican brief. I like this
[00:38:22] This is this cup of royalty. I bet you do
[00:38:25] Anyway, do you guys have a couple of honorable mentions for your all-time top 10?
[00:38:33] You know
[00:38:35] You'll throw a couple out Brad. I'll throw a couple out that
[00:38:39] What what's the one that you were debated the hardest that just didn't make the cut the one that was right on the cusp
[00:38:44] I was like oh man. I feel like it should be in there, but like I don't know
[00:38:48] I don't know if it's better than these two and I think you'll you would argue against one of them because
[00:38:53] I know that you guys didn't like this one as much as I did overall
[00:38:56] But everyone's a critic that 11 and
[00:39:00] That one was I went back and forth so much between having it in the number 10 slot and not having it on the list
[00:39:07] But like there was one that I could I didn't feel right about not having in the top 10
[00:39:12] The one that's in the number nine slot for me. I know you guys would probably be like oh you're wrong for that
[00:39:17] But everyone's a critic. I think it's probably the one that had the most difficult time cutting out
[00:39:20] I had everyone's a critic at my like if it was my honorable mention
[00:39:23] I've got it one two three fourth down on my honorable mention list
[00:39:27] I'd great day
[00:39:28] Great days great days 12 me right there. Yeah, great days 12 really just I mean my goodness
[00:39:32] There's just too many
[00:39:34] Bangers though because this is a beggar had a
[00:39:37] And that's for me when that was the thing that was kind of frustrated and like I
[00:39:40] It's the same thing that was frustrating for me mostly because I know how to loan the island feels about it
[00:39:45] But like going through the top 10. It was just like it's it's mostly music stuff, you know
[00:39:49] And like you you they're still other great stuff they did but like the best stuff really is then use of course
[00:39:56] They're great for apples. Yeah, like and I have Andy's dad at 16
[00:40:00] I felt like that one was okay. That was so good. That's that's my 12. Okay
[00:40:06] Hero song I have it 17 that's a basic one, but I think that one is so funny and just the
[00:40:12] The length of which they play that joke out of the repeated punching like I know you love the repeated
[00:40:17] It just gets me gets me right in my mind. I would did that make my honorable mention list gets my funny gets
[00:40:21] How about you? Did you have anything where close?
[00:40:25] You remember off the top of your head yeah, I mean close were I had boombox close everyone's a critic close
[00:40:33] um
[00:40:34] I just it was really hard when you
[00:40:39] Again, this is you put them all together and you're like okay. I've got a clear
[00:40:43] Kind of 10 to 15
[00:40:46] And then you've got a bunch that are really good and what I noticed when I was putting them all together
[00:40:52] Going back to the first episode when we were going through I like some of I think I had almost reorder some of those now
[00:40:58] Right now
[00:40:59] Yeah, as now have seen all
[00:41:02] I definitely went through and like oh some of them that were like number number one or number three on on the second list
[00:41:09] Actually our numbers eight on the final list because some other ones snuck in no for sure
[00:41:14] Well, I reordered it and also honestly when I was looking at my top 10
[00:41:17] I actually there was some that were like right on the cost of top 10 that I was like no that should have been on the top 10
[00:41:22] Yeah, I kind of reconsidered my top 10
[00:41:24] In the moment and then you think yeah, I got a little bit. I get it and that's that's the one thing
[00:41:27] We'll say is like even though ranking things is fun
[00:41:30] That's exactly what can make ranking silly sometimes
[00:41:33] So it's like there's sometimes there's just such a little difference between like what actually is better that like if I think
[00:41:38] I bet one here on my honorable mention
[00:41:41] I just want to put it on there because I know it's nowhere near
[00:41:43] Doesn't even whiff the top 10 for you guys
[00:41:46] But I think space Olympics is really underrated
[00:41:48] What? I really like that song. I liked the video. I like how silly it is
[00:41:52] But I just I really like the Audacity of what he says and how you know
[00:41:58] The oxygen has run out
[00:42:01] And he it's he's the one to blame and I don't know. I just I love the narrative the whole thing
[00:42:05] It's just really silly and fun. Okay, okay
[00:42:07] That was underrated one of the ones that I have my adult mentions
[00:42:09] I don't know if I would have made the cut for you guys, but I put party guys at 20
[00:42:13] That was actually my 20 as well. Okay. Yeah, I think it's real it's a simple premise again
[00:42:17] But like it's such a rapid pace and they have so many good punchlines in it
[00:42:21] And they have so many so it's that's the one where they're all a little party
[00:42:24] And I was like look who just walked in look at this joker and then it's the jokers from Batman
[00:42:29] But the amount they crammed in there. Yeah, yeah, exactly
[00:42:33] All right, so
[00:42:35] Top 10 all time all time top 10 let's get into it. What is your number 10 mate?
[00:42:42] Number 10 was from today's episode number 10 was three way
[00:42:48] Okay, all right Ben deer sister at number 10 number 10. Okay, that was in my my honorable mentions
[00:42:55] Okay, that was good my number 10 is United Way
[00:43:00] Wow wow
[00:43:01] That's okay, yeah, let's let's let's let's let's let we do it again judging you
[00:43:05] I should keep that to myself. Well, it's you early
[00:43:07] Okay, all right, that's fine
[00:43:09] Wow, wow, wow, wow, that's not about that a little
[00:43:12] Okay, no, yeah, well we will
[00:43:14] Number nine
[00:43:15] Number nine, they want to get for near number seven. I'm gonna get some the only one that has these in is not 10
[00:43:20] Which one do you think I'm talking about?
[00:43:22] I don't have any of my top yep James Cameron's leisure cats five is number nine
[00:43:27] I like James Cameron's leisure cats five because it it's got James Cameron who is
[00:43:33] a better director and just person then seems forward
[00:43:39] Wow
[00:43:39] So Nate you are wrong because I have leisure cats seven okay at my number nine
[00:43:46] There my boo and James Cameron's leisure cats was it number 18
[00:43:48] Yeah, so it was an honorable mention
[00:43:51] So yeah, I thought later cats definitely deserves some love leisure cats
[00:43:56] Kind of almost to bind digital shorts for me right yeah silliness of laser cat the cheap feel of it
[00:44:01] Yep, and like just these guys they were doing something that type of humor
[00:44:07] Was something that I didn't see on us and now right the silliness of that humor coming together billhater
[00:44:13] You know like something you could do yourself. Yep, you know like it was just relying on guys being silly and funny
[00:44:20] They could have done it on a
[00:44:22] 1994 camcorder yeah, and so I just I've got a lot of nostalgia for those shorts. Yeah, no
[00:44:30] So I agree with you. I think laser cats is sorely underrated
[00:44:34] All right, it's your space. Ben
[00:44:37] Jizmy pants
[00:44:38] Yeah, but what about your ranking
[00:44:44] Licky Diki
[00:44:49] Now your pants are voiced
[00:44:52] Oh, come on
[00:44:56] Okay, Jizmy pants is never died. I'm interesting
[00:44:59] Funnily enough, Jizmy pants didn't even make my top 12
[00:45:02] Oh, it made mine. Yeah, didn't make your top 20 no
[00:45:04] We've been just outside to have 20 wow
[00:45:08] So I already I'm also looking at this to the lens of like I did put a little on us on
[00:45:16] How did I feel when it came out?
[00:45:19] I remember laughing so hard over sure
[00:45:22] And I think that probably maybe a little rose kind of glasses
[00:45:25] I saw I think and I think for me I kind of kind of had to opposite thing
[00:45:29] Like I do remember loving it whenever it's come out
[00:45:32] I still think it's hilarious
[00:45:33] But I think that I've come to appreciate other ones more as your palette has been refined yeah
[00:45:39] Like rewatching this kind of like reframed it for me and I still think it's very funny
[00:45:42] I still like it a lot but I found I
[00:45:45] I appreciate it a lot of other more
[00:45:47] novel concepts and like so it's just my pants. What's yours?
[00:45:50] Jesus, he's this
[00:45:51] Hey, Jizmy pants. Oh my top 10. Okay. It's so grumpy
[00:45:54] Number eight or we ate
[00:45:57] Sure
[00:45:59] Yeah, we're number eight. Laser cuts do whoa laser cuts too is not even in the top five laser
[00:46:06] Cats
[00:46:06] Really? I think it's the worst one honestly. Yeah, are you just making it look so bright now
[00:46:12] Did I write the one down though? I think I'm doing it in the down
[00:46:14] Did you do it in the out of the register like no?
[00:46:17] No, sorry sorry sorry you're right
[00:46:21] I was looking at oh my god. It is laser cats one. Sorry. Okay. That's that's sorry
[00:46:27] laser cats one was in my top 20 so
[00:46:29] They just make you shut up. He didn't even write this the inaugural
[00:46:31] Next one
[00:46:32] He was the move on number eight is lazy Sunday for me for me it's yellow
[00:46:40] Okay, I can't I'll be winners I guess love you
[00:46:44] It's fine. It's hilarious. Do you just love Adam Levine? I'm not a hater would you kiss him? Probably where
[00:46:52] Where he told me to no but like location Paris no like his butt
[00:46:58] Is it that you like that where would it what do you 12?
[00:47:02] We're like hands you like Paris like his butt
[00:47:06] What are you what are you what are you guys what have like we're also even over what do you want to have for breakfast tomorrow morning
[00:47:11] Oh, do you did your mom have the the pill's very total true to oh she does
[00:47:14] I would like French toast. I'm gonna get French toast and it tells us your doll and I'm also looking at it
[00:47:19] Said when toast crunch and it's just who awesome. Oh, you know, I want to do I want to take French toast and put a toast
[00:47:23] We're not 12
[00:47:25] Shut up
[00:47:26] So it's like uncle rons here
[00:47:28] Back to the list anyway. Yellow's my number eight was your number eight Brad lazy Sunday and wake up in the late afternoon
[00:47:34] Laser cats one number seven for me is Natalie, perhaps featuring Natalie Portman. Oh, that's okay
[00:47:41] That is creep my I mean the creep the creep because creep is a TLC song. Okay
[00:47:47] Okay, my number seven is I just had sex. That's my number seven
[00:47:55] Okay, it felt so good. Why is it good for you? Oh, it's always good for me
[00:48:01] This is where all over the place are guys number six
[00:48:05] Dick in a box whoa what I
[00:48:09] Okay, it's number six what's your six name jizz in my pants. Oh, all right mine is mother lover
[00:48:17] Yeah, but the lover didn't you make a doubt what oh, it's not that funny
[00:48:22] Okay, they did my good there are some incredible verses in mother lover. It's in my it's in my overall mentions
[00:48:28] But no, it is in my my tab 100
[00:48:32] Wow, it's my top one
[00:48:33] Wow number five
[00:48:36] Number five for me is I just had sex
[00:48:37] Okay, number five for me is gonna I know you guys will have a look at the Japanese office
[00:48:44] Oh, yeah, I don't do my top 20. I think it's very funny
[00:48:48] I love you guys know I love that one. I love that I think it's great too
[00:48:51] Yeah, but it was not top 20 material form. Yep let alone top 10. Yeah my number five is the creep
[00:48:57] Okay, the creep is very very well established in this earlier episode my number four is I ran
[00:49:03] Oh, wow
[00:49:04] Jesus Christ I
[00:49:07] Don't understand your hate I love that one so much. I know what you do
[00:49:11] I actually admire so much you stick into that and here's what I will give you credit for is
[00:49:17] The most recent episode of
[00:49:20] You told me I was gonna like this the lot. Yeah, the lonely island Seth Myers podcast
[00:49:24] Was about Iran so far and the way that they talk about it is they love it
[00:49:28] They hold it in very high esteem Seth Myers in particular
[00:49:31] He actually gets emotional thinking about how much he likes it
[00:49:35] And it's kind of interesting to hear them talk about it with such admiration because I do think that it is a good
[00:49:41] So much one of their favorites they've ever done
[00:49:43] I don't know sure there was one of their favorites have ever done but like but Seth Myers in particular likes a lot and I think and I know
[00:49:48] I know they feel good about it
[00:49:49] If you use the podcast almost everyone is one of their favorites
[00:49:52] They've ever done these they speak nostalgic
[00:49:55] Well, that's true because they're they're pretty honest about the ones that aren't good
[00:49:58] But then they also speak about how much and that everyone they've certainly got some lemons
[00:50:02] And they talk about them
[00:50:03] But they speak about the process to make them and yeah, that's not always the way it comes out isn't always
[00:50:11] It isn't always tell the story of how much they loved no, of course
[00:50:14] But this one you can tell that they do have they like how it came out. Yeah, they have a love for
[00:50:19] Especially with how good Adam Levine did make it like he was great
[00:50:23] But yeah, no, I do think it's good
[00:50:26] I don't think it's bad. I just don't think it's like great. Okay, I'll say this I remember when it came out and it was it was my role like it was people were talking about it
[00:50:36] All right, number if do we do all do number five?
[00:50:39] That was my number four. Yeah, what was your number four is Natalie's rap my number four is I'm on a boat
[00:50:46] Okay, all right, did that make your time? He did
[00:50:49] All right, but the all important top three what's your number three Ben my number three is Jack Sparrow
[00:50:57] Okay
[00:50:57] Guys jacks for it didn't make my time
[00:51:01] Number three my number three is dick in a box
[00:51:03] Really yeah, hi
[00:51:05] Yeah, for me dick in a box it's hard to not sing that every time it's classic as an old digital short
[00:51:10] Number six like it's not like a through the way. Oh, that's a big thing. I mean that's wait wait
[00:51:15] What's your number three?
[00:51:17] Dick in a box is like lazy Sunday was like the breakthrough for us another digital shorts in general
[00:51:22] I think dick in a box took their musicality to like another level because Timberlakes in there
[00:51:28] He added like a new sense of quality but they were but but they didn't jump up the music video quality yet
[00:51:34] Because it was still meant to be kind of playful in that way. I agree that like if you're making a list
[00:51:39] Is this kind of like the more important ones or like your favorites right?
[00:51:43] No, but like the more important one shared dick in a box would be
[00:51:47] No, but it's also a favorite of mine too. Probably I literally every Christmas
[00:51:50] I record the
[00:51:53] Self I record myself with a dick in my dick in a bug no I record the Saturday night live Christmas special of course
[00:51:59] They play Christmas catches and they mix up every now and then dick in a box has been in it for years
[00:52:03] And I never like get tired of watching. I love dick in a box. It's a great song and a great gift
[00:52:11] Number three for me Unitedway Wow, okay, all right? Wow. That's this is interesting
[00:52:18] You know why because my number two you know the way oh
[00:52:23] It's it's I probably rewatch this sketch
[00:52:25] This digital sort more than any other digital. It's the best non musical digital short and it's like it could it could fill up
[00:52:33] It's own top 10 you had away over again, and then the 11th one would be dear sister
[00:52:38] It also it's that there's that much of a castle. Well, that's a ridiculous way of ranking
[00:52:42] It also introduces it's it's it's amazing I think it is single handedly introduced us to a different painting
[00:52:49] Manning it did more now
[00:52:51] If this was a podcast about like as I know there's little shorts that changed your opinion of like the careers of athletes and yeah
[00:52:57] I would put it much higher. It's but I'm perfectly fine with it being at number 10
[00:53:00] It's the most it's the it's one of the funniest things that ever seen
[00:53:05] That's that's kind of big
[00:53:06] It is because you get to hang out with me all time when I saw that I cried laughing
[00:53:11] I was laughing so hard. It was so good. It was clever. It was
[00:53:16] Yep, I agree and we are athletes. Yeah as athletes that's true
[00:53:22] We are big into sports so my third one was Jack Sparrow your third one Nate was
[00:53:26] You know way bread you're gonna buy my second one was United Way bread your second one is I'm on a boat on a boat and then
[00:53:34] Dick in a box which means my number one was on on a boat and yours is Jack Sparrow no mine's
[00:53:42] My name is Lisa yeah minus minus Jack Sparrow you leave his son there for number one, huh?
[00:53:48] It's a fine that one feels like a combination of
[00:53:51] Favorite and reverence. Yeah, that's what it is I think it's it just felt weird not to put that because it was the first digital short
[00:53:58] That it just for me. It's just it's the Mount Rushmore, right?
[00:54:03] It is such
[00:54:05] Definitive digital short comedy for me and
[00:54:09] I haven't watched it more than United Way, but I just I've got reverence for it. No, that's fair
[00:54:14] I'm on about is one of one of the best songs ever. Yep. It's great. It's a banger
[00:54:19] You know not even in the in the pantheon of parody just as a song
[00:54:24] So you can listen that song and put on any party right now and people would still crazy
[00:54:28] They wouldn't even it's not even like oh that's a fun thing to do
[00:54:31] Put that right up there with everything else we're listening to yeah, they would just listen to then give me your tough for again
[00:54:37] I ran
[00:54:38] Jack Sparrow United Way on my boat
[00:54:41] Boy, I ran really just brings down the whole average of that top four
[00:54:44] My top four is Lisa Sunday dick in the box you know way and I'm on my remote
[00:54:48] I'm gonna I need to listen to the lowly out of the podcast because
[00:54:53] If you say I don't why you're not listening to it
[00:54:55] Did you know I did I ran when I'm not there yet?
[00:54:59] I do skip ahead listen to that and then I can just see the dunk on you if they say that it's this is the
[00:55:03] The only islands at my podcast is officially now the only podcast. I have been keeping up with like week to week
[00:55:10] Like I got caught up and now I will listen to every episode each while I love it to be as if you're an SNL fan
[00:55:15] At all they talk about the episode itself
[00:55:18] Yeah, that's that that's like of just icing on an already delicious cake. There isn't sliced for my daily podcast
[00:55:25] Yes
[00:55:28] What's I don't understand you keep over there when you keep over there? No cuz like I'm on it
[00:55:31] Like why am I
[00:55:33] I'm not gonna let's not every episode just no, but I'm not gonna listen to me Brad. Hey Brad. Hey Brad. Hey Brad. Hey Brad. Spill privilege
[00:55:41] Oh, I can't do that
[00:55:43] No, no, I have I I
[00:55:45] Have a cage and listen to when there's something I want to hear as far as an opinion about a movie
[00:55:48] That I haven't heard one of the writers talk about but I typically don't because most of the stuff that is in the podcast
[00:55:53] Is stuff that has already been like discussed in our work slack
[00:55:57] Yeah, there's another great podcast for the discussing film people that you should listen to
[00:56:04] Is it is the podcast do they just take clips from other podcasts and put them on their podcast?
[00:56:10] Fucking assholes
[00:56:13] All right, we're starting fights here. So I guess he was gonna finish him
[00:56:19] Who me
[00:56:21] So yeah, it is interesting how much I think we we were all pretty similar, but we all have a little bit of flourish in there right?
[00:56:28] Yeah, couple sketch and has something he likes that aren't that great
[00:56:31] I need loves laser cats. I just can't believe you guys don't think that I ran as is good
[00:56:36] It's wow. He're here first Ben loves a ran
[00:56:41] Acid jar is he's
[00:56:44] Ahmed
[00:56:47] Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, I like to add actually syllables into his name
[00:56:56] Yeah, you know, he sucks. Yeah, he's dead and he's dead so let's give my high five
[00:57:03] By the way not dead
[00:57:05] He's not dead really no I'm like with he said no. He's dead
[00:57:09] He's not dead. Oh, he's dead. Are you sure? Did you spell it right? Yeah
[00:57:14] You need me not to say it. It's not gonna go
[00:57:17] He's actually a member of the experience he discerned
[00:57:22] He's a member of the Canadian films society
[00:57:26] He's actually presented at tip. He's a member of Expedia
[00:57:31] Come in he's only
[00:57:35] 26 this is probably his son
[00:57:37] 67
[00:57:39] You can't you can't I do not believe he's not dead. I but I know it my heart is dead
[00:57:44] His son his son
[00:57:46] I can move with you to junior. I don't want you to
[00:57:50] My gosh well guys that does it for the SNL digital short banana
[00:57:55] This was part three about about we did it we watched so many digital shorts
[00:58:00] We watched hours always shit of digital shorts. It was so many so many it was so many more than we even thought initially
[00:58:05] I thought it was gonna be a breeze but it turned into a long it's a bread always that's it
[00:58:09] What we together watch all the one night a couple hours
[00:58:13] Well, if you guys weren't like such like little babies about like oh my my family and my time is so difficult
[00:58:20] Oh
[00:58:20] Yeah, we have been doing it this again or no no, this is podcast is over
[00:58:26] Thanks for ringing up man. I'm like weird toast
[00:58:29] You just hear my voice. I'm over it. Oh no, even over a some street made the October is that win
[00:58:35] New episode should come
[00:58:36] No, no, what the first episode is at the end of September so yeah a couple weeks. Yeah, so we're not too far off
[00:58:42] I have if anything maybe will might have something in between this
[00:58:45] Well, we'll do it episode even if it's short one about the film. Yes, that is that is true
[00:58:50] We will do an episode with Ben and I talking about the movie since he won't be able to see until October
[00:58:55] You guys are taking your someone's in oh
[00:58:58] That's right. Yeah, that's then we're gonna tell everybody tell it all. Yes, but yeah
[00:59:03] Well, we'll definitely do a little episode in between talking about the movie digging into some of those details and then
[00:59:08] Yeah, we back on the the usual episode grind at the end of September
[00:59:13] We don't know who's hosting yet, but we know that it's season 50 and so it's bound to be someone with big guns
